I went the day I arrived, a Monday, when most Paris shops are closed. Au Petit is in the Marais 13, rue St. Paul around the corner from Aux Désirs de Manon.
You will want everything. And I had no problem photographing everything in sight. I only bought a tiny box of jam labels. Not that I'll ever make home-made preserves. I had big plans to return and buy more.
They have a huge collection of cafe au lait bowls and tins.
Remember Cuisinophilie, where I found the little blue milk jug. That's a shoe box compared to Au Petit Bonheur La Chance, which by the way means, the little happiness of random luck.
Because I love French handwriting I took a picture of their doorway. I just forgot to read it.

I returned on Tuesday. They were closed of course.
Do you have art hanging in your kitchen?
It's ART MONTH at apartment therapy: the kitchen. They've done a very nice interview on Paris Breakfasts and my food art.
Please take a look.

BIG MERCI !
thank you for this little foray.. I live in the USA Antique central and no hwere do we have some awesome storefronts!
ReplyDeletereal life antique shops (versus eBay sellers) are a vanishing breed these days.
plenty of cheesy flea markets tho where you can buy cheap socks!
I wanted to drop by and thank you for a lovely blog. I visit every morning and sip my first cup of "the au lait" while reading your post. For just a bit before the hectic work day starts, I can believe I'm back in Paris, sitting eating my petit déjeuner while the city wakes up. Thanks for a bit of "home" each day
ReplyDeleteLove the display of Cafe au lait bowl's, Yummy colors..especially the top shelf. ;-)

More cups and cherries!
ReplyDeleteWhat about Blueberries?

I'm going to commit Hari-Kari
If there are more cups and cherries!
"They have a huge collection of cafe au lait bowls..."
ReplyDeleteBe still my heart! I gasped and my heart literally skipped a beat when I saw this photograph. I love cafe au lait bowls even more than I love cups...if that is even humanly possible. (deep sigh)
Carol, you continue to dazzle and amaze. Thanks for a wonderful start to my morning.
People have witnessed me being dragged from these shops in Paris. I want to live in one - with a chocolatier next door preferably. Love the painting, it's those tin things again!
ReplyDeleteQUESTION... What are those oval tags with the numbers on them used for? The one's on the hooks on the edges of the shelves?

And I love that little glass.
Good cherries, too!

I once raced across Paris to a shop only to find it shut and I had no other opportunity to return...
ReplyDeleteAll I wanted was a bottle of French Mead :o/
Simon
Loved the lettering shots.
ReplyDeleteI also went back to see your wine label in your archives.
I agree. Very nice. I just love a lively script writing without pretension.
Now i'm going to look for that wine!
Fun

I tried to go inside this shop a couple of years ago---and it was ALWAYS closed for me, too! Now I'm in my paring-down mode as far as objects go, so I'm no longer terribly tempted, but for you and your paintings, I'm sure this shop is heaven!
ReplyDeleteLove all the jam jars and kitchen goodies but I especially come by to view your watercolor paintings!Pure ~magic~ with your paint brush!
ReplyDeleteCome for a frienship ~tea blooming~ in my kitchen! :)NG
Thanks for the tip, Carol. I will definitely want to visit this shop — and will be in the neighborhood.
