Parisien Working Dogs

Foret Noire Salon de The,9" x 11"
Something you see all over Paris are working dogs...
They are guarding bistros...
And cafes - have you seen this little hard worker on the corner of rue de Buci? He's (she?) always there...
Double guards on duty watching the girls go by...
Is that allowed?
A chic Marais shop dog guards from the inside...
The night watchman on patrol!
He's eyeballed me. Uh oh...

This hound is guarding her mistress' baguettes.
Don't touch/ne touche pas!
An antique watch dog...
Goyard has this fausse metal hound on offer...
More and more NO DOGS allowed signs in Paris...
WOOF! How do you say woof in French?

BONJOUR Ouah-Ouah!!

  1. So pretty!

Love it and my dog too!

  2. I wish I would have seen the frenchie statues in Paris... they remind me of mine.
    Wishing you a lovely weekend!
    xoxo, B

A French mademoiselle might be just the ticket, even if she's guarding a store. Please keep an eye out for me. I'm looking for a dame to share my sunset years. She must be a sharp dresser!
PS Walkies tomorrow at dawn! Wear your mittens.

  4. I love the water color, and the pics are great, too!
It looks so warm there :)
    Have a great weekend, Carol!

  5. Wonderful pooches, all. Your elegant dalmation is very well behaved in that painting, Carol!

  6. ahaha! I'd be afraid, a dog staring me down? Uhm, weird. Paris looks like it would be fun, though. I think I could get passed the instense gazes of the dogs!
    Jess : )

  7. I so much like the way you put your posts together! I also like the fact that you find a theme or an inspiration around you, which to me speaks volumes about your artistic soul and the empowerment it brings to see beauty all around you.
Thank you for your beautiful posts.

  8. I LOVE your blog! I own Rue Lafayette in St. Louis, I'm not sure where you are but if you are near pls let me know. My chef is Marc Felix ( ) our food, coffee, ambiance & shop are amazing! I used to be the designer for Levis in SF and went to paris every yr i love it! Long story i am in St Louis now & since i cant be in Paris, i brought it to me! Hope to meet you!

  9. You know these dogs work very hard too. A place that welcomes dogs so well is my kind of place.

From a table at the Buci Cafe, we love to watch that little dog patrolling the sidewalks and streets. He/she seems quite happy to have other doggies visit his/her cafe too:-) Always enjoy your posts, Carol.

  11. Gorgeous dogs! Refreshing is the word that comes to mind when I look at your pictures.

  12. One of the things I love about Paris is the dogs everywhere! I loved this post!!!!!Maryanne;)

  13. I love that pink bag of baguettes next to the dog. I do like dogs, but I must say I am definitely more of a cat person :)
Actually, I have a confession. Sometimes when I'm walking home and a big dog barks at me, I yelled out "clébard!!" However, those dogs look very sweet and not deserving of my shouts.

  14. Good dogs! I have wanted a dog for years, but I'm afraid my cats would tear it to shreds. They're baddies.

  15. Great post! How I long for a dog!

  16. One must love Paris (obviously!) because Paris so loves dogs. All of them ...adorable Carol.

Wishing you a lovely Sunday evening and happiest of New Years to you x

  17. i held a baby doxie in my arms today and about melted. thank you for taking me into paris to see some darling pups!

What hard working creatures!! I will ask my little fèfè how to woof in French. I am sure she will oblige. x

  19. Drôle et sympathique de voir un oeil "étranger" capter les particularités françaises ! Cordialement.

  20. You find the best and most amusing dogs and dog thingies! ;-)

Those five baguettes sure make me wonder what's the story behind, big dinner, perchance?

Love hearing from you
