Older French Girls !

And now, by popular request:The Older French Girl!

A Sonia look-a-like at the Fall/10 show, decked out completely in Sonia with even Sonia red hair.

Inside the show, another "older" fan.

The older French Girl or OFG can have quite long hair. It can be white or whatever.

I love this hair salon poster of a fierce older French Girl BO DEREK - an Amazon woman with not too much airbrushing
.
Three OFGs out shopping on rue Saint Honore.

*Make a note - the OFG has a distinct propensity for wearing RED.Lots more red in Paris.

Is wearing RED an act of insurrection as one Frenchie commented?

Are all OFGs anarchists?

Or do they just want to brighten up a bit.
Qui sait? It certainment is prevalent, no two ways about it!
Here the beau of the older French Girl trails behind carrying her tiny RED Galeries Lafayette bag (like an idiot might I add, ahem)
Sans rouge but they are older Parisiens and tres classe non?
OFG, par excellance, Jacqueline de Ribes was recently awarded the Legion d'Honneur for her many years (80) of contributing to French elegance.

My OFG cousine seconde, Kristine in Pigalle, tout en bleu. This 80++ can charm anything n shoes and does it regularly to keep her skills up. We were eating at Rose Bakery. She gets up from the table and goes to chat with complete strangers, usually in their 20's and they are all smiles and giggling in no time!
I wish she'd give me a few lecons...
Voila!
BONJOUR OLDER FRENCH GIRLS!

Merci! I loved OFG, I have just had my very first trip to Paris experiencing Christmas and New Year and enjoyed my stroll down rue Saint Honore, at 46 would I be considered a potential OFG?? I wore my beautiful black winter coat, black boots, red leather gloves and a red beret!

    Loved this tale, bisous!

    I think OFG
    sounds much better than
MLF. The "Older" part implies experience, to this US male.
And of course "French" is loaded with elegance and sensuality, and then we have the little mind-twist
of "Girl,"which implies an innocence that probably is not there, but certainly most enticing.
    American women deserve better than
MLF. How about OAW. As in
    "Oooo...Ahhhh...WOW!"
My 2 cents for the day.

  10. Great stuff for us older girls!

And Bear is right - we definitely need an all-bear post! And more Bear posts, too, for that matter!

Please, I absolutely love everything you do but not the bear!! That whole bear post idea makes me cringe.

I'll happily wait for you to come back if you let him go ahead though. xxxx

  13. I really noticed how, in Paris, that people of all ages are all out everywhere: cafés, bars, shops, markets, parks etc. In America it is rare to see older people out and about mingling with the city as they do in Paris.

Just another tick in the Paris column!

  14. I love OFG! At age 62 I would like to think I fit right in on the streets of Paris but pink is my red and I don't think I would be as noticable. Have you done a page on French pink? You probably have but I'll have to look back. Love the post, Carol

  15. As a (ahem) sightly older Wanna be french girl - I thank you for this post and appreciate the Fact that a french woman only gets better with age !
And my hair is not brown too ;-)

  16. I'm an older - read invisible - USA "girl" - your pictures are great for knowing how to dress for Paris where older women still count! Please keep it up!

  17. I've been a reader for some time and enjoy being transported to Paris or New York for a short time everyday. Today your post was outstanding--in our Canadian & American youth obsessed cultures its refreshing to see something on these ever elegant woman "of a certain age". For those of us who don't have French mom's as mentors it's refreshing to have some guidance and a vision of what my future holds and what I want to pass on to my daughter. I'll definitely write a post for my blog and will link some time in the next week!
    Tres Bon!

  19. Thank you for this lovely post on OFG's. After all they started with style so why let it go once you get older? Congrats on 4 years of blogging. I have enjoyed it for most of those years. Missed a year of it maybe before I got to blogging.

  22. Also, I'm happy to see the longer hair on a mature woman. I have been thinking about cutting my hair ...mainly because I think I'm getting too MATURE for it! I don't have any grays yet....but still, I'm 48 sooooo......we'll see! xo

    (consider the alternative ... )

This OAG loves that you acknowledged that all girls in Paris aren't 19 and tres thin.

    OFG-
Your blog is my favourite part of my morning, as I am totally in love with Paris and all (well, almost all) things Parisian. I am moved to write to you especially today to thank you for your Older French Girls entry.
I'm 61 and sometimes feel sad that everything seems geared to the young, especially fashion and beauty.
    Taste and interest don't
necessarily die off when one passes age 50!
I would love to see more of chic OFGs, like your fabulous cousine seconde, Kristine.
I also love your entries on perfume, another of my obsessions.

Thanks for your fun, witty, mini-trips to Paris each day -
    D.

    Mais Oui Bear!

    Yes! Yes!
A complete Paris bear post, as per Bear's excellent suggestion, SVP!
    Merci beaucoup,
    Kathy
P.S. Perhaps Bear can visit Ophelia's legendary shop Bazaar des Bears on rue de Bac and her abode on rue de Varenne...

  30. OFGs!!!
Well I'm delighted at yr response!
    Who knew...
    merci mille fois!

WHIT- I did a Louboutin post. I would LUF to do another if they would let me in the doors.

BRUSH WITH COLOR-what is a OAG?
    OMG an Older American girl!
I have to say I don't think the American Girl has the same universal cachet as the Almighty Fr Girl.
If an AG is from CA(California)and blond and a bimbo, she has many more feathers in her cap...

As for BEAR taking over PB..not anytime soon. If he takes a Blog night course, then we'll see.So don't tear out yr hair.

  31. I like to think of myself as an OFG!! I am 1/4 French, speak (some) french....but tell tail is I love wearing RED.

  32. Has Paris discovered "cougars"?
You've managed to find a lot of red, I wonder how long before it hits the USA?
I'm all for a bear post....

  33. Merci Carol, I was one of your readers who requested a peek at the OFG. You have outdone even yourself! I'll be sure to wear my red jacket when I go to Paris in Sept. Terric post!

  35. MERCI, MERCI,
I've told many friends here at home that I felt like I was the ONLY woman in Paris with gray hair. I am NOT a fan of the unusual hair colors. I"m happy with my silver hair. Now you've shown me others are as well.
    Merci,
    V

  46. And for the record, when I "grow up" I want to go from OBG ( Older Bama Girl) to an OFG! I have the love of rouge already. Now I just need to work on my French!:) I thoroughly enjoyed this great post C.

  47. Thank you for the OFG. They are great. I want to be like Kristine as I age. I love red so I will cultivate being an OCG (older Canadian girl).
