Rouge, jaune et bleu aquarelle
I bought this little (1 3/4") Limoge-style perfume holder in Passage Jouffroy
I've been playing with mixing colors: reds + Yellows + blues since I got home
The most basic color triad out there.
Maybe I was inspired by these red cafe tables
On rue Rambuteau
This lemon yellow table top looks just like
Or Wayne Thiebaud's round yellow cheese painting full of reds and blues too.
Red + Yellow + blue are used a lot around food.
Like this boulangerie painting of a wheat girl
Or this chef eating his dinner and licking his chops
Down the street on rue Rambuteau is Cupcake Berko, famous for their colorful mini cupcakes. More goldeny than bright yellow but this tarte fine is still yum.
This post is making me hungry!

You make me want to bake even when it's almost 6:00PM..and I painted a little bird like that in les Alpes Maritimes..I remember!!
ReplyDeleteFirst thing I painted there I liked.
Oh and you make me want to paint:)
What a dear Limoges box you found and painted..
I found it in a chatchka shop in Passage Joufroy for maybe 5 euros..
DeleteNever thought to paint it before
I love that watercolor! Perfect :)
ReplyDeleteWow I have to get this nice Dalloyau blackberry tart ...
ReplyDeleteAre those berries still in season?
DeleteHow's the ballet lecons?
I don't know how you do it??
Love your little Limoges box aquarelle painting & your 3 colour mixing. I'm still practising my blob painting.
ReplyDeleteYou can still practice blobbing with RYB.
DeleteJust use Perm Rose or Cad red +Yell Ochre + cobalt blue or ultramarine blue or Cerulean.
You'll get beautiful greys.
That perfume bottle watercolour is beautiful, Carol. Trust you to have such an eye with the table colours. I'd normally just walk right past them but they are so cheerful!
ReplyDeleteThis post is making me hungry too! :-)
ReplyDeleteAnd after walking my eyes through all those beautiful color blogs, I almost fell into that tarte fine (well, wished it were so).
I read a book by Gertrude Stein before going to Paris and it gave me some flavor for the city prior to arriving. BUT CAROL, you give me flavor and color and Paris perspective in the sweetest light. Thank you so much for your yum blog
ReplyDeleteOh my Carol, all of these pastries and cupcakes are to die for! Bonne weekend!
ReplyDeleteYou paint gold edges on porcelain so beautifully! Gorgeous watercolor! :-)
