Only research of course!
I called Eleni's in the Chelsea Market to see if they had mini cupcakes - rather hard to find in cupcake-leaden New York City believe it or not? And they had them! YAY!
And in 2 flavors and with 4 kinds of icing! YAY!
Eleni's is 2 doors in on your left at 75 Ninth Avenue (in the Chelsea Market)
New York, NY 10011
Let's go in!

The first thing to knock your socks off is this upside down Xmas tree completely decorated with heart-shaped cookies! WOWZA!
A closeup is essential.
And under the Vallentine tree - tons of CUPCAKES!
While living in NYC, Eleni Gianopulos operated a small business baking trays of her mom's oatmeal recipe and selling them out of her apartment.
But New Yorkers wanted more.
Doesn't that say it all.
We New Yorkers always want more!
We demand it!
And we usually get it too :)

I have just made a coffee in the UK and l would love a yellow cupcake with it,

ReplyDeleteThat upside down Christmas tree is adorable. Can you imagine, a cookie a day? Her store is so bright and cheerful. How do YOU sniff all these good treats out?
Susan
Love the paintings.. especially the first one.
ReplyDeleteYummy post today. Can you just imagine the dreams of these people who dream all that up?? That's what I call SWEET DREAMS. :)
OMG, I love the little "I heart NY" t-shirt cookies and taxis and Statue of Liberties and apples...how clever and cool. This store looks great. That upside down tree is wonderful, too! What a great idea. Your painting is charming, comme toujours.
ReplyDeleteMust have yellow cab cookie. Must have yellow cab cookie.
ReplyDeleteWhat a crazy place you live in - upside down Xmas trees, blue food and then you HAVE to buy what you photograph. My heart bleeds for you :)
ReplyDeleteAll those yummy things.
ReplyDeleteIs Vallentine's Day celebrated in France?
Ann
Paris, it is 12:30 here...
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm waiting for lunch to heat up.
This is torture.
Really, there must be some rule about you posting at meal times! Or snack times.....
Or when I am awake.
I always love the look of those cookie and the special themes for holidays etc.
ReplyDeleteYou and Eleni make me happy!
ReplyDeleteOne day I'm going to make you some mini's. When is your birthday??
Constance
that store and your drawings are so cute!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous
ReplyDeleteSince you're doing so much research, how about publishing some more results? How does the difficulty of transporting cupcakes on the subway compare to that of transporting French goodies on the Metro? These cupcakes look quite well protected. Is there perhaps one TINY aspect in which we Americans excel?
ReplyDeleteNice composition.
ReplyDeleteI love the paintings of yours from the last couple of days, with and without rubber duckie!
ReplyDeleteParis is to Carol as New York is to Jana. Since I can't be there, seeing the city's delights on your blog are the next best thing. When is the best time of year to visit, do you think? Spring? Fall? (not ghastly summer...the two years I lived in Manhattan I had to move back to California for the summer -- couldn't take the humidity).
ReplyDeleteDelicious! Thanks for the sweet tour. Now I'm craving cupcakes!
ReplyDeleteOh i loooove cupcakes - cant u put out the recipe? that would be rly cool of u =))
