Cabinet des Curiosités Map, Surrealism - Pompidou

 

Maybe my curiosity was peaked 🤔

After a visit to Messy Nessy’s Cabinet back in July.

Messy Nessy has exquisite miniature cabinet des curiosities in her shop window, perfect for your dollhouse.

Cabinets of curiosities, also known as wonder rooms or Wunderkammer, 

Were encyclopedic personal collections of objects in Renaissance Europe as yet to be defined. 

Most classic cabinets of curiosities emerged in the 16th century.

Later to become the first iterations of museum collections to come. The Louvre early days…quelle wreck 🙀

Are there other Cabinets in Paris full of treasures just 💎 waiting to be discovered? 

Of course there are. A big favorite is Melodies Graphiques.

Les Drapeaux de France 🇫🇷 is another you shouldn’t miss if you’re mad for miniatures, at Palais Royale. 

All this wandering amidst quirky, strange, dream 💭 like objects made me think

 I should run 🏃‍♂️ to the new Surrealism show at the Pompidou, immédiatement!

Conveniently, the museum is open till 11:00 pm on Thursday nights. Everyone else had the same idea 🙄

Once inside the exhibit, we were squeezed into a narrow labyrinthine passageway.

Next a small circular room. I suppose to put us in the right frame of mind 😳😵‍💫

Then a full movie screen running Hitchcock’s SPELLBOUND with Dali-esque/Freudien dream sequences…

At last some open space 

And air - a spongy umbrella ☂️ 

I loved ❤️ the Giacometti table sculpture.

And the lobster 🦞 phone…being fond of seafood.

Plenty of René Magritte for fans.

There are many rooms to explore…I just discovered the plan. 

The Surrealism exhibit is on till 4 January, 2025. And then on to Philadelphia 👏

Too many rooms for me. By the end I was beginning to feel like this…I begged 🙏 the guard to show me the exit 😂

A Brigitte Macron-like woman was exiting ahead of me. 

So surreal

Wonderful to be back in realité 🤸‍♂️outside.
