London Leaves

London leaves are not falling down yet...
Like they are in Paris...
There are plenty of leaves in London windows.
Very Fallish too.

You can buy Fall bouquets on every London street corner.
Are they from Paris?
A lovely leafy chandelier.

I ate my leafy greens at favorite Covent Garden resto, Food For Thought yesterday.

Paper leaves are strewn about.

White paper leaves.

Falling on Autumn wedding gowns...
Wear a leafy hat when you go out to walk the dog?
Or line your teepee with Fall leaves?

Why not buy an autumnal bouquets in orange and yellow.

The pumpkins are out in full force!
I'll look for a chocolate leaf for you to nibble in Borough Market today.
BONJOUR LONDON LEAVES!

  1. Oh MY Carole... I JUST did a post about London and didn't know you were there now! It's one of my FAV cities now.. though I have sooo many here in Europe!! I can't wait to go back.. You should try to find "LOVE BAKERY" in Chelsea.. She has the most DELICIOUS and MOST BEAUTIFUL cupcakes I've ever seen... Her name is Sam-- try to check it out, if you have the time..

    Margaret, are you grieving
    Over Goldengrove unleaving?
Leaves, like the things of man, you
With your fresh thoughts care for, can you?
Ah! as the heart grows older
It will come to such sights colder
By & by, nor spare a sigh
    Though worlds of wanwood leafmeal lie;
And yet you wíll weep & know why.
Now no matter, child, the name:
    Sorrow's springs are the same.
Nor mouth had, no nor mind, expressed
What héart héard of, ghóst guéssed:
It is the blight man was born for,
It is Margaret you mourn for.

  6. The weather there must be mild, then? We have gorgeous fall colors and leaves falling. It feels like a true Fall day here in PA.

  7. I could roll in the leaves in my yard here in NEW England all day long. I might just tell the landscapers to bugger off when they come to remove them this afternoon.

  9. Oh Carol, this post is reminding me of seeing absolutely giant leaves on moist London sidewalks. November used to be one of my traveling months, so maybe the trees hold on to their leaves during October, and let the shops do the leafy decorating for a few weeks.

I have also greatly enjoyed your recent Parisian posts.

today while surfing the web, (from a very interesting sleepy town in
bad ems, germany), i discovered your fabulous web-site!
i am an american, living here in europe and, have had the pleasure of experiencing such "splendors of the continent" quite similar to your paintings!
a privileged journey to share with others!
    thanks for the inspiring imagery!

  12. 2 parts hot water to 3 parts glycerin
Leave in in container for three weeks , big bunches take longer. You will have soft golden foliage for ever.
If they're mixed from different tree's you get lots of different golden brown shades.
I used to do them to sell in my flower shop l had some years ago,
    Jill

Have a wonderful time in london Carol, we were surprised at how the leaves were still very green on the trees and you are right - not the same in Paris.
I loved the green of London, - green Park was my favourite place on a Sunday afternoon.
    enjoy the markets!
