The Red Shoes

Repetto Paris Every night when I come home completely exhausted after dancing all over Paris...
The Red Shoes I say to myself the famous last line, "Take the red shoes off..." from all-time classic movie, THE RED SHOES. You can see the trailer here. It's as if I imagine I will be revived once my shoes are off - instead I collapse in a heap for an hour or three...
You do see an awful lot of red shoes in Paris and it isn't a temporary trend or tendance.
Christian LouboutinWe have Christian Louboutin to thank for the charming flash of red sole you see now and then on Paris streets - tres cher...
Elle Magazine Elle Magazine says it's the must shoe to have if you happen to be attending the Cannes film festival...ahem
Red ballerines are calling out to me...
I went to see Parisien illustrator, Solidad Bravi (she illustrates Pierre Herme's chocolate boxes) at Colette and don't you know there was this adorable shopaholic wearing red shoes!
Confessions d'une accro du Shopping is about to open in Paris. Are her bags full of red shoes?
Not shoes but more red accents in Paris like this elegant cafe on rue Saint Honore - a visual delight...
As is this adorable parfum shop in the Marais...
Bofinger I ate lunch yesterday at red Petit Bofinger...
And had a greenish Frenchie version of tunafish salad - rillettes. YUM
Lenotre Around the corner Patisserie Lenotre had this stunner of a red berry gateaux in the vitrine...
But then all the fruit and veg shops are loaded with gorgeous red berries!
For you guys out there I spotted this sharp red vest yesterday, while dancing through Paris...
Ah ha!
A French girl wearing her red shoes and walking her two doggies, one of them the obligatory, must-have Jack Russell.
And the period that ends every sentence at Paris Breakfast - A red Eiffel Tower in all the Metro stations...
BONJOUR RED PARIS!!!

Please... get the red shoes, they'll change your life! I have cute, red ballet flats. I don't wear them a lot... but when I do!!!
There is certainly a spring to my step when wearing them!

Your post and pictures are what gave me a surge of energy.

Thanks for the inspiration! Do you know your Paris Breakfasts color themes influence my choice of SparkleMirror backgroud color on a regular basis?

Looking at the first picture in front of Repetto in Paris Breakfasts today, I am really curious to know if that window is in celebration of the Ballet Russes 100th anniversary of appearing in Paris. I like to think that gorgeous tutu is from that ballet company.

Parisbreakfast said...

You reminded me...I must go back and shoot the window in more detail.
I took that from the #87 Bus!
Doggies in front of Repetto!?

I am delighted as well you are back in the City of Light! I personally think you should live there, it is obvious that you love it there and your Paris relationship could blossom from honeymoon to ...?

The photo of Le Castiglione and the Mini IS Paris.

Have you seen the cover of The Lollipop Shoes, the sequel to Joanne Harris' Chocolat? No red shoes, but brilliant.

Red ballerines! What do you wear when you are walking the streets?

I forgot to say that I live in the Périgord where the strawberries come from. Look for the ones that come from Vergt. They are the best!

Overindulging in alcohol endangers your health - or so says the Red Eiffeltower! The wonderful thing is that one can get drunk on your Paris pictures and still drive afterwards! Enjoy!

Hope you are having a great Paris trip. We are SO excited about our trip in June. Your daily posts are truly an inspiration for the photos I will be taking while we are there. Being an avid life artist, I have gotten many ideas from your blogs for my journals and scrapbooks. Thank you for giving us our daily "taste" of Paris and all of the city's wonders!

CLARE:What do I wear out on Paris streets?
A very comfortable and entirely unexciting pair of Arcopedicos...
I did buy some shiny red ballerines yesterday and wore them briefly at dinner! :)

Hi, I am an avid reader of Paris Breakfast and I get a big kick out of your love for macarons. I found a website that produces decorative wall stickers and along with an Eiffel tower and other designs, they have stick-up macarons! They're a bit pixelated, but I nonetheless thought you might enjoy them, if you haven't already seen them before.
Thanks for your wonderful blog!
All the best,
Allison

I'm really interested in the perfume shop. I'll go crazy in there I'm sure.

Confessions of a Shopholic was a cute movie!

The ballerines will be more comfortable than the heels, for sure. I have a pair of red ones in velvet, for winter. Not for spring. Quelle dommage, oui? Cute post. LOVE that movie.

There is a lot of talk in Cannes this year about the film, The Red Shoes. A marvellous film. I have a good friend who every time we drive through one of the tunnels in Monaco says to me ...'it's from here that Moira Shearer threw herself off the cliff in The Red Shoes.' Of course we can't see the cliff anymore as we are in a tunnel!

Your photographs and of course your art work is superb.

I Bought a cute pair of shoes in Buenos Aires a couple of years ago after lunch.

Marie Antoinette - selling perfume! I wonder how long it took to "rehabilitate" her reputation so she could sell things.

Dear Carol,
I have been a bit of a glutton while reading your blog. Three years of breakfasts crammed into one week— okay, I have pigged out. I was on google searching for information about tea at the Ritz, and your blog was recommended. I was entranced, and so I began from your first entry and have read all the way to the present. I as well share your passion for Paris; after several experiences of being in France and in the beautiful city of Par-eee I spent my recent fall semester abroad in Paris and am already planning my next trip (hence the search for tea at the Ritz). Also, I am from Long Island and am now quite eager to visit some of the places in the city that you have blogged about! I relate to your interest in maps (I have several hanging in my room), the anxiety you get before you travel, adoration for French pastries (I miss them every day) and your love for painting. I have not been able to paint since last summer, and I’m not good by any margin, but it is still something I love doing. Reading your blog brought back so many dear memories, it was fantastic. (I studied at the Sorbonne and on my way to class every morning I stopped at Columbus Café on rue du Sufflot. I was desperate for hot chocolate on the go, and they had fantastic muffins.) Thank you for sharing your experiences and I look forward to taking breakfast with your blog!

Kate Bush has an album called "The red shoe", David Bowie sings "put on your red shoes ... let's dance!". Seems red shoes have a magical appeal. If I see someone wearing red shoes, I instantly like the person, actually! And yesterday I bought red Kawasaki shoes!
Lovely post!
