Christmas Chalets at Bon Marché

A few years ago I painted a Christmas Letter featuring LE BON MARCHÉ

This year’s theme at Bon Marché is Christmas marché chalets
‘A chalet is a type of building or house, typical of the Alpine region in Europe, made of wood, with a heavy, gently sloping roof and wide, well-supported eaves.’
Like the lite-up chalets you see along boulevard Saint Germain or Champs Elysées
Selling pretzels 🥨 & 4€ roasted marrons.
I can assure you, Bon Marché chalets.
 Are NOT selling pretzels 🥨
Or roasted
Marrons.
JAMAIS,
Multi-chalets hide the escalators
And add a cosy/chaleureuse 🪵 relaxed feeling
To the store,
With plenty of luxe,
Calme,
Et volupté.
Stunning perfumes by Piver in the chalets.
Imagine your name etched ✍️ onto a large gift 🎁 bottle of Guerlain perfume…Yum Yum 😋
Across the street at La Grande Epicerie
Another chalet outside
Selling delish waffles 🧇
Inside GRANDE ÉPICERIE more chalets full of goodies
Oooops, too late to taste Panetonne 🥲
But not too late for Angelina’s panetonne with their crème de marron in a tooth paste tube.
This stuff is so good you can eat it straight from the tube 👍
Decisions, decisions 🤔
Have you tried candied fruits/fruits confits
From St. Remy, Provence?
In big demand at Christmas 🎄 time. I have not.
A quick browse
At the bûche de Noël counter…
The rain 🌧️ doesn’t deter Paris Christmas shoppers.
I grab a hot chocolate at the Meert chalet after so much browsing. Temptation succumbs 😊
Want a page from Meert’s beautiful Christmas catalog shown here?
❤️ Just buy a Paris letter 💌

This is PHENOMENAL! Absolutely gorgeous! I'm glad LVMH is spending lots of money to bring delight to shoppers in this way. Let this always be the case! The French department store experience lives on! Thank you Carol for sharing these wonderful photos. Bonjour from Susanne xx

  3. Thank you so much for bringing Paris to us. These are fabulous. What fun the interior displays are. There is nothing quite like it here, as you know. I also noticed that the store doesn't look packed with shoppers. Is that typical the week before Christmas? Just gorgeous.

Thank you, Carol, for sharing these sumptuous temptations! I just returned from Bordeaux— which is clearly not as opulent as Paris. However, I received a beautiful gift bag that included: salted caramel sauce, a chocolate Christmas tree, and chocolate gummies! Ooh la la. Unimaginable treats that only the French seem able to create.

What a fantastic post! Thank you so much. The effort and money they put into their stores boggles my mind and is such a contrast to here on the West coast of the US. No more needs to be said 🥲
