R comme Ruban

 More serendipity today.

Fauchon sent me a pink ribboned love note.

What would life be like without champagne, macarons,

Fauchon even swathed a charlotte russe in extra wide pink ribbon.

The French have always been deeply attached to their ribbons, no pun intended.

Ribbons bring a sense of closure especially on chocolate boxes.

The French may even have invented ribbons/les rubans

I plan to go down to Ribbon City, St. Etienne this trip

 (Photo c/o le petit coquin)
To see how they are made. Have you been?

French friends put a picture of their adorable newborn on Facebook.
I added the pink ribbon...

  1. There's a RIBBON CITY in France?! Yes, please, take me there!

  2. What a cute bébé:)
Lucky one.. Ribbon City..Would love it as much as The Emerald City I think~The one at the end of the Yellow Brick Road..
My girls wore ribbons until they were old enough to know better and said no more:)

      I don't think I ever wore a ribbon after age 5
though I have some Sonia ribbon headbands in the closet waiting

Very pretty and lyrical Fauchon is.
    Love that deep pink!

  4. I can't wait to see how it's done!

  5. Quite a blast of eye-popping art work, Carol!
I like your watercolor of the baby!

  6. Such a gorgeous post. It's wonderful how you pull together the ribbons from different sources. I love how France has things such as ribbon cities. I've been to the town where god makes copper pots.

  7. The baby with a ribbon is the most lovely of all. Happy weekend.

  8. I recently discovered your blog and love reading it and seeing your lovely water colors.
The ones I ordered are just beautiful and arrived so quickly.
I'll look forward to seeing more and adding to my collection.

  9. I've never been to Ste-Etienne, you must tell us how it's like! :) Enjoy your trip this time! Sorry to miss you once again!

My maman constantly tied rubans dans mes cheveux, tres grandes-bleu et blanc et rose-mais i was a tomboy who climbed trees and walls so le regard parfait did not last long!!! Pauvre maman :(

  12. Lovely post and ribbon painting, Carol!
Can't wait to see Ste-Etienne though your eyes!

As regards to cooper pot towns in France, check out Villedieu-Les-Poëles, Basse-Normandie, France.
