Cupcakes Gallery Printemps

OH NON! not more cupcakes! Please blame BEAR.
Being a Parisien, when he sees the words 'CUPCAKES GALLERY' he goes bananas. And Printemps is co-operating fully...With a BIG cupcake party in full swing... Downstairs -anyone who is anyone is munching away... These are just mini cupcakes + bagels svp. BEAR, a recent New Yorkaise, adore les bagels and is moaning, mais je dit,
"Non! Absolutement pas NON!" Eeeek - le prix!
C'est un peu tres CHER non!
A mini lunch box of 1 mini cupcake + 1 giant bagel with lox + 1 drink is 12 euros.
Still...
They ARE awfully adorable et jolie - regarde le framboise!
Les mini oreo!!
Et speculas et caramel beurre aussi...
All cupcakes are from BERKO in the Marais
23, rue Rambuteau 75004
BEAR is lapping it up on his home turf...
I had to try at least 2 = a citron meringue + a speculas...
Cafe Pouchkine BEAR, being a true Parisien, insists we visit Cafe Pouchkine on the first floor at Printemps...
Cafe Pouchkine Bien sur, c'est plus elegant!
Cafe Pouchkine OMG!
Cafe Pouchkine BEAR is eyeballing the dotty macarons...sigh
Only looking this time BEAR.
Cafe Pouchkine Oh les gateaux c'est extraordinaire!
Cafe Pouchkine Very gorge indeed...
Cafe Pouchkine Time for a cuppa? Bear asks...
Jamais!
We must keep running.
Only a few days left in Paris!
It's thoughtful of Printemps to have something for everyone don't you think?
Not everyone is cupcakes crazy...hmmm
But if you are, Please sing along with SEVEN NATION ARMY
I'm gonna fight 'em all, ze CUPCAKES
A nation army couldn't hold me back from ze CUPCAKES!
They're gonna rip it off
Taking their CUPCAKE time right behind my back

And I'm talking to myself at night about ze CUPCAKES
Because I can't forget
Back and forth through my mind
Behind a cigarette
And the message coming from my eyes
Says leave it alone, ze CUPCAKES!
BONJOUR PRINTEMPS!

  4. Several years ago, I decided I was going to be the one to open an American bakery in Paris. Cupcakes, brownies, muffins, cookies... Ahhh- evidently I was ahead of my time and had no benefactor financing the venture. Still a lovely dream, n'est-ce pas?
    Merci, Carol and Bear!

  5. Hmmm...with Bear's proclivity to fall in love with so many things NOT French....is there any chance he was "made in China"?

  10. You are right about Printemps; it's a great place to find everything you need! The Russian café is great and I have already tasted the macarons. However, ...PH is THE reference!

So funny to see this adoration of American everyday stuff like bagels and cupcakes...
It just goes to show whatever is new is amusing no matter what it is I suppose.
Maybe New York cupcakes should rename themselves framboise and fraise for more cachet?

  16. I just wrote a blog about not loving cupcakes but absolutely adoring french cakes. Now that the french are making cupcakes themselves, i really want to try because i'm willing to be persuaded otherwise re my dislike for cupcakes which i find boring, always too sweet and one-dimensional in flavor.
