Notre Dame, Notre Dame, Notre Dame

Susan B. wrote and asked, “ I wonder if there’s an illustration of Notre Dame in your future?” At first I said no 😬…but after a bit my arm was twisted 🥰

When I went out my door 🚪 yesterday at 11:30 🕦 am, everyone was tearing up my street, dogs 🐕 & all, headed for NOTRE DAME of course 😳

I was headed to the stamp store to see if I could find a NOTRE DAME stamp 🔍

They only have a NEW commemorative stamp going for 14€ a sheet 😳

And the international stamp (1,96€) takes up half the envelope 💌!!

Not a good choice…

Bonnie said there was a chocolate NOTRE DAME maybe by Alain Ducasse. Chocolat Valrhona made it and you can view it at Terminal 1 at Charles de Gaulle airport ✈️

It took 3,000 hours to create. They didn’t say how many chocolate 🍫 bars went into it 🤔

Anyhoo I headed to Galeries Lafayette Gourmet for a browse.
Maybe I only go to the stamp store so I can end up at GLG around the corner 😀

Always delightful surprises like this clever giant chocolate 🍫 pinecomb from Louis Fouquet.

Speaking of giants…an essential check ✅ on the Pierre Conticini XL croissants 🥐 Never disappoints.
More gigantism from Pierre Marcolini. An XL chocolate 🍫 snowman ⛄️ seems like a very good idea 👍
Chapeau 👒 de Noël from Marcolini sounds fun 🎉
A fun winter hat browsing at Dalloyau.
Matching hat-dessert from Cyril Lignac.
Outside the streets of Paris were jam-packed. You couldn’t get close to the Christmas store windows 🪟
Did you watch the inauguration of NOTRE DAME last night?
NOTRE DAME
in 2017.
I loved ❤️ how they celebrated the fireman and workers 👏
I was there for the terrible fire 🔥 at Notre Dame
An unforgettable experience. I wish I could have been there last night…
Especially to see Pharrell Williams

I visited Notre Dame today! A mere half-hour wait outside without a ticket, and well-worth it! So beautiful and luminous, it made me cry. . . everything glowing and glistening and stunning. And a Mass was going on, music and acoustics also beautiful. Do not fear the crowds, the queue moves very quickly. An unforgettable experience!

This IS a joyful post, Carol! After all the tears shed during the fire, to see ND so beautifully restored after only 5 years is so moving. Watched ND on tv last night and again this morning for Mass. Such pageantry! Can’t wait to see it in person. Your sketch is gorgeous.

I was so smitten with le Grand Epicerie that I didn’t see the need to go way across town for Galeries Lafayette Gourmet…until YOU goaded me into it. SO grateful you did! It’s a temple of temptation for anyone that loves French food. ❤️GLG!

Thank you Carol! I enjoyed watching the opening on BFM on my phone from the US. Agree the appreciation of fire fighters and restorers was moving. As was the presence of a couple of women firefighters, even if they were all called hommes through the ceremony! Wish I could see the chocolate ND !

  9. Thanks for the inside scoop on ND and all things chocolate! I’ll be curious how you feel once you’ve been inside the bright white ND. Will you feel the history of the place or will it feel fake? Looking forward to your thoughts!

There was something ineffably, I had to look that up -
      Meaning of ineffably in English
in a way that causes so much emotion, especially pleasure, that it cannot be described: His music is ineffably beautiful. His voice was so ineffably sad that my eyes filled with tears.
It’s true the old, dark, musty Notre Dame reeked of history…

  11. Formidable! J’ai tout regarder sur l’internet. J'étais curieuse par les robes des prêtres. J’ai trouve les infos. https://www.cnn.com/2024/12/08/style/video/notre-dame-vestments-ldn-digvid

      Merci Jerie,
For the terrific video. I saw that Castelbajac had designed the new robes & I tried to draw ✍️ Archbishop at the doors..but I wasn’t satisfied. They remind me of Matisse’s chapel.
