Les vitrines Galeries Lafayette & Printemps

On Friday I went early to the stamp store and was rewarded with uncrowded views of the Christmas windows ๐ŸŽ‰ Simply go before 11 folks ๐Ÿ‘

Galeries Lafayette windows are blindingly full
Of silvery & gold glitz
Created by snazzy Swiss designer, Kevin Germanier
Who designed the costumes for the Olympics Closing ceremony.
Designer Germanier is deep into upcycling and ๐ŸŽ‰SHIMMER ๐ŸŽ‰
Quite a bit of controversy over his Galeries Lafayette big tree ๐ŸŒฒ
This is a mini window version. Too synthetic…too plastic?
What do you think?
Meanwhile neighbor Printemps went trรจs traditional for Christmas
With scenes of holiday train travel
Through the Alpes etc. with bears ๐Ÿป onboard etc.
Harried travelers ๐Ÿงณ
Endless Bellhops with endless valises ๐Ÿงณ
Many, many traveling dogs ๐Ÿ• No one goes anywhere without their pets these days
A fuzzy pet seen yesterday in Bon Marchรฉ. Cartier-Bresson’s ‘Dรฉcisive moment’ passed me by.
Not exactly sure what’s going on here.. So what is yourself preference? Travel windows or shiny glitterie?
Naturally I stopped in Galeries Lafayette Gourmet for a look see.
Bears ๐Ÿป in bed anyone for your bรปche de Noรซl?
Marshmallow foxes ๐ŸฆŠ instead of bears ๐Ÿป ourson guimauve
Plenty of cute French kiddies ๐Ÿ‘ถ looking on patiently at the shopping mayhem
Much better to look at busy shoppers than to be one imo
This bear ๐Ÿป at Cafe de la Paix looks very chill…
๐ŸŽ„ HAPPY SUNDAY DEAR PBers ๐ŸŽ„
Repetto’s ๐Ÿฉฐ Christmas window yesterday from bus 70

Hi Carol! Oh those gorgeous Paris department store windows!!!! For me, the ‘traditional’ Printemps windows would hold my interest longer…….to look at all the small details. Thanks so much for being our ‘eyes’ in Paris! Merry Christmas and lots of love from your big fan, Suzy Mazur in Grosse Pointe, Michigan ❤️❤️❤️

    1. I think I’m in agreement with you Suzy, though I did feel more sympathetic towards designer Kevin Germanier’s glitz after looking him up. Still there is NO STORY in his windows…mainly eye candy sans the seasonal enchantment ๐Ÿค” though one does not like to be too judgy.

Thank you for going out to capture Paris this time of year. It is a dream of mine to spend the holiday season there one day. I love the holiday travel displays - especially with the pets! Very cute! Happy holidays to you. I wonder if the Paris streets are quiet around the holidays?

    1. Paris streets are jammed Stacia with shoppers, even in the rain like today. That’s why I went early. Parisians are NOT early birds ๐Ÿฆ in my opinion, though they do start shopping ๐Ÿ›️ beginning of November.

I personally prefer the travel window since I am a traveller during this season together with my sweetheart pet. But the glitter of Germanier's creative ideas are also tempting. Merry Christmas, Carol and all the best for 2025. Isabelle

  7. There is simply no city in the world like Paris. The heart and soul this city pours into its Christmas decorations is mind-bogglingly wonderful - whether you always like the designs or not -it is always a breath-taking spectacle.

Def Printemps-so cute and fun. I'm a fan of glitz but I don't like that tree at all-doesn't say Christmas tome. I would love a bear buche de noel & think the foxes are adorable.

The glitz seems happy and modern to me (and so festive) while the travel is adorable and nostalgic - I love both!
