Yesterday was major. I got my walking papers to venture back into the Big Apple (with a cane but I'm now allowed to climb the stairs alternate steps instead of one-step-at-a-time!)
YAHOO
A chance to return to the Pastry Sketch Crawl and where better than Café Petrossian.
Back to tres chic Cafe Petrossian.
Though Lord knows why I picked out exactly the SAME tarte as last fateful visit. I must have a deep hidden attraction to strawberries.
If not to pate brisee crust. I only stayed a half hour and sketched a bit. No point tempting the Gods of Sciatica again.
Au Nom de la Rose Teas, watercolor, 9" x 11"
OMG! OMG! The pink shoes! OMG!
ReplyDeleteOh, such a tough job you have :-)...so much more delightful than pub crawling!
ReplyDeleteSo happy yr up and out and about!
ReplyDeleteYAY
Yay! Carol is out and about once again. I am sure you are training yourself to be up and ready for your big trip in a couple of weeks. Gods of Sciatica (that cracks me up). I love that pencil sketch from petrossian and your final watercolor...so very lovely and pink and rosy...perks you up doesn't it? Have a recuperative weekend sans Louboutin. hehe.
ReplyDeletethis looks gorgeous ... like your blog! nice to meet your "blogsphere". greeting from Europe, @nne
ReplyDeleteBack pain device... really!
ReplyDeleteMy PRIMARY Dr. (not a specialist) recommended a "TENS" Unit-
It worked on my chronic back pain in a few days.
Not expensive at all - it's as small as a phonebook
Keep up the wonderful work. I envy you all the trips to Paris.
Cheers,
Victor
What a great collection of photos and paintings, Carol!
ReplyDeleteThe pastries look fabulous, your photos are so perfect!
I'm glad that you are feeling better - have a great weekend!
You're progressing pretty quickly, although I'm sure it seems endless to you.
ReplyDeleteI've never asked you when and why you started drawing/painting. Has it always been with watercolors?
Annie
Oh, such yummy cakes...wish I'd got one right now, with a cup of coffee. And you're oviously a talented artist. I will be back to read more of your blog. M
ReplyDeleteOn Friday's "Good Morning America" on ABC-TV they featured the dessert table for the Oscars this Sunday night. They'll be serving macarons on a tiered serving platter--just like the ones in your paintings!
ReplyDeleteAh! Carol - so good that at last you can venture out again - take care. I think you chose the strawberry tart because strawberries are wonderful to paint - the colour, the shape, just perfect- and the icing on the cake is that they taste delish!!

ReplyDeleteHow about a "shoe crawl"..
I LOVE "shoes" window shopping ...
never would/could wear such a heel. It never ceases to amaze how many different exotic shoe styles one can find in Paris....
btw: what did you mean farewell M. Louboutin?
so happy to see you "in the pink" again.
~Suzanne
I am going to Paris for the first time in a few weeks and was hoping you could answer a question for me: When??? Do Parisians eat all those beautiful pastries?
ReplyDeleteDo they buy during the day to eat after dinner, only, or, do they have a tea/coffee time each day in the afternoon (3 or so?) during which they stop by the pastry shops and eat all those desserts?
Thank you so much for any guidance you an offer on this nagging question.
I just wanted to let you know that every time I open up your Paris Breakfast, a smile appears on my face.
ReplyDeleteIt's so nice to see a creative person who finds beauty in everyday things -- pastry, storefronts, flowers, etc.
just wanted to let you know how you make my day!
Hope you are feeling better!
PS - Love my "Pup goes to Paris" watercolor!
Suzanne,
ReplyDeleteI've written about Christian Louboutin shoes a number of times and that hot pink-bowed number is his design.
But I just want to walk around with out a cane - forget the 9" stilletos.
So farewell Monsieur Christian Louboutin!
Bravo - so glad to hear you're hobbling around the city. And just in time for spring. Keep getting better, mon amie!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Glad to see you got right back on the horse that kicked you...or the patisserie that gave you a pain in the butt.
ReplyDeleteThank you for all the joy you give to people with your words and images.
ReplyDeleteTerry.
OMG Love this post + your blog. New follower here, do hope you're gonna follow back. All the best, talk soon
