Carol, I thought this would never get here! It feels as though the world is about to be set right with a lot of work from everyone! They are beautiful, I agree!
I have put this on my blog as l think everyone shoud live by it.
I watched it all day in the UK and he was in his office at 7 this morning and all his guys had to be there as well, he means what he says,

"Making your mark on the world is hard. If it were easy, everybody would do it. But it′s not. It takes patience, it takes commitment, and it comes with plenty of failure along the way. The real test is not whether you avoid this failure, because you won′t. It′s whether you let it harden or shame you into inaction, or whether you learn from it; whether you choose to persevere."
I stayed up 'til after 1am watching EVERY dance they did at all the balls!! LOL I think they are a very sweet couple. He and she are elegant and lovely together. There's an innocence and I sense a real support of each other with them, isn't there?
Our whole nation just seems so full of hope, and this man has instilled in us so much anticipation and happiness, despite the troubling news all over TV and in our lives now. (I wrote on flickr, too, that I was amazed no one I saw on TV even mentioned the significance of the music they danced to-- "At Last." Such an appropriate choice, and beautiful. Glad you pointed it out, Carol!) They're a lovely couple. I'm so glad they're where they are!
I am happy for you that you got the President you wanted. I didn't want either candidate who ended up in the race. I am a conservative.
I know this is probably an exciting time for you. What I like about your website is that it isn't political--it is, for the most part, about Paris.
About half of the country voted for Obama and half of the country didn't. As soon as you bring politics in, you please half of the people and displease half of the people. It is your website, obviously. However, I just ask that politics be left out, or be neutrally presented. I know I can just delete the days which contain politics, but they do get me off on the wrong foot, rather than that little moment of happiness when I get to think about Paris, breakfast, chocolate, pastries, tea cups, etc.
Anyway, I am not meaning to offend. I am just giving another point of view and making a request.
By the way, I love my Angelina's watercolor I got from you. It is proudly displayed on my "kitchen eating area" wall. Thanks again.
At last, my love has come along My lonely days are over And life is like a song Oh, yeah, at last The skies above are blue My heart was wrapped up in clovers The night I looked at you I found a dream that I could speak to A dream that I can call my own I found a thrill to rest my cheek to A thrill that I have never known Oh, yeah when you smile, you smile Oh, and then the spell was cast And here we are in heaven For you are mine At last
Despite your living in France, I have never seen such an attractive couple, where one of them led an important country. Pretend English is not my first language to best understand this sentiment.
The best first dance ever. Funny, I had the same title for my blog post today. I was so inspired that I grabbed my husband and son and danced with them too.
It was way too late here, to watch the tour of the inaugural balls, but when I read about and watched them dance to that song, long on of my favorite, I felt that the world could be whole again.
Bonjour ! I’m Carol Gillott, a former NYer living on Île Saint-Louis in a 21 meter chambre de bonne. As a Paris blogger, travel writer, watercolorist, and photographer, I share my latest escapades so you can walk around the city vicariously in my shoes. To experience even more of the Parisian life, sign up to receive my beautifully Illustrated monthly letters where I paint the Paris your dreams and mail them
to you wherever you are. You can order these letters, along with my art prints, at my Etsy shop.
Describe what you love about France in 3 words. Can we make it 5 words? Eyes, ears, nose, tastebuds + brain. Paris stimulates all my senses constantly. I’m inspired all the time – endlessly surprised and amused. New York doesn’t do it for me anymore…

At Last Lyrics by Etta James
ReplyDeleteAt last, my love has come along
My lonely days are over
And life is like a song
Oh, yeah, at last
The skies above are blue
My heart was wrapped up in clovers

A dream that I can call my own
I found a thrill to rest my cheek to

At last
