The 1st Saturday of the new year Solli & I meet up for LA GALETTE DES CHEFS.to taste the Galette des rois.
I admit I go for the oyster 🦪 yum yum
The annual charity event takes place at Saint-Germain du Prés
In front of Cafe deux Magots.
Beautiful galettes for charity donations to Association POIC.
I spotted pastry chef Gilles Marchal …
There was even a superb, giant panettone donated by chef Christophe Louie.
And chocolate boxes from Edwart Chocolatier.
For the browsers like us, they provide a big, delicious, almond frangipane galette donated every year by Caterers Potel Chabot.
An interesting trench coat 🧥 spotted on a galette 🥮 browser…
We left early. It was too bitter cold 🥶 yesterday…2 pairs of gloves did not keep your hands warm..not mine anyway.
And I found a bronze paper crown 👑 in the street.
There is always a fête 🥳 going on somewhere in Paris.
If you look 👁️ down treasures await.
Love the trench coat (and you!) I think you should paint one for yourself!
ReplyDeleteTrenchcoat? Where?
DeleteThe back of the illustrated white coat 🧥
DeleteWish I were there now! Are you going to the Suzanne Valedon exhibit? I think it’s at the Pompidou.
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU! I didn’t know about the exhibition 🙀
DeleteThat was so fun going there with you yesterday <3 A shame it was so cold!! The big galette from Potel Chabot was my favourite with its generous filling...yummm
ReplyDeleteSo fun for too Solli 🥳 although I think I’m sneezing 🤧 today from the cold 🥶
DeleteIt is wonderful to see so many wintery events happening in Paris. While we don’t have quite as many here in Maine in the winter, your jaunts are inspiring to me and I find myself looking for activities more often nowadays. At the very least I will make a trip to the bookstore or bakery and think of it as my own little fete here! Thank you for sharing as always! I will be in Paris/Provence in May and your posts help me feel as though I am there all year long!
ReplyDeleteI sometimes need nudging to go outside…like today. I will try to find some rosemary/romairin
DeleteThat is some vintage wrapping paper under the fragipane gallette…. 2008???? Jeanette s.
ReplyDeleteAlways Ms. Sharp Eyes 👁️ Jeanette! It’s in fact a standard wrapping paper design for such things. Cute huh?
DeleteYum! So exciting there is so much more on offer than just Galettes des Rois. I would have been right behind you, queuing for the oysters! Bravo for braving the cold to bring us this delightful post. ❤️
ReplyDeleteI love reading your posts and vicariously being in Paris. All of the different events are so interesting, whether they’re art or food or fashion related. Where do you find a schedule for these events? I will be visiting Paris the end of April/early May and would love to find out what’s going on while we’re there. Eliece
