Dolce & Gabbana, Du Coeur à la Main, Grand Palais

I really did run 🏃‍♀️ yesterday

To Grand Palais to be at the front of the line first day opening

For the new Dolce & Gabbana exposition,

There are 12 rooms of 200+ garments. The first room ‘Fait Main’ (hand main) represents the designers first collection in Paris and it is a knockout..but every room is a fabulous knockout. This feathered dress

Was worn by top model Naomi Campbell.

The walls of this room are covered with specially commissioned paintings
And self-portraits by New York artist Anne Doung.
The exhibit is on till 31st March, 2025 And then will travel internationally. I’m now in the ‘Réve de divinités’ room.
There is gorgeously appropriate music 🎵 playing in each room.
Listen here to Ennio Morricone Jill’s Theme and swoon.
You pass through black velvet curtains as you move from room to room
Adding to the mystery and surprise.
We’re in ‘Divine Mosaics’ now based on Byzantine artworks.
Is your head beginning to spin?
Through the black curtains to the spectacular ‘Traditions Siciliennes’
All of the wall and floor decoration was specially made for the exhibit.
You just keep thinking…stupendous, stupendous!
An embroidery reference photo from old Sicily.
A complete change in the next room called, ‘Baroque Blanc’. Everything Dolce & Gabbana create is off-the-wall baroque is it not?
A wild wedding dress.
I’ll skip rooms & take you up to the atelier at the top - an exact replica of their workrooms w
ith real seamstresses stitching 🧵 away!
They came up from Milan to assist assembling the exhibit.
I didn’t show you ‘Le Guépard’ room with ballgowns influenced by the classic Visconti movie, The Leopard 🐆
There are grandiose mirrors everywhere and on the ceilings reflecting the backs of the gowns. The music 🎵 playing is from the film, Valzer del Commiato by Nino Roto
I was Shazamming like mad in each room, but many times Shazam missed 🎵
Luciano Pavarotti was singing, ‘Core Ngrato
’ in the Opera room appropriately.
The magician and brilliant mastermind behind this fabulous exhibit is fashion historian Florence Müller Müller also created the YSL retrospective at Petit Palais. And the Dior Retrospective at Mad.
An excellent subtitled film shows how the exhibit came together & the artisans who contributed.
I was so blitzed by the end I totally missed the GIFT SHOP!
I Have to go back! You can buy tickets 🎟️ online here.

Such extravagant, lush, clothing! The time artisans take to create them must be insane. Love the colors. Love the fabrics. Would love to actually wear one of their creations!. Dream on!
