Yesterday I had the best chicken sandwich 🥪 ever.
Completely out of the blue and in the pouring rain 🌧️
I was heading to the Chinese shop on rue Mouffetard for Hot & Sour soup/Pekinese.
This rotisserie chicken 🍗 called me from across the street.
I’ve never seen rotisserie chicken 🍗 look so lush! Marinated in rosemary, thyme, smoked paprika and massaged with mustard. I’d like to be massaged with mustard…
The chickens are from Landes, noted for it’s super fine poulet 🐓 élevé en plein air et nourri exclusivement aux céréales, pendant 16 semaines.
The owner of the shop, Victor Seguineau explained everything to me.
This used to be a Vietnamese restaurant 2 years ago.
Here are the delish sides that come if you buy a 1/4 chicken (12,95€). I forgot to shoot the chocolate mousse.
The owner was prepping the chicken sandwiches for lunch/déjeuner. The traditional with cornichon + home-made mayonnaise. Also curry chicken and Caesar salad sandwiches. Even the bread 🥖 is special, baked for them with organic flour by the boulanger next door.
Victor and his partner Elena (off making mayo) are from Nantes They went to hospitality school in Switzerland.
111 RUE MOUFFETARD
Closed on Mondays.
That cornichon/pickle was calling me…I’m thinking of running over there for another one 🥪
❤️ Please pray for California 🙏
I was living in rue Mouffetard I loved it there. It is a great place to do your grocery shopping
ReplyDeleteIt is a very fun foodie street to browse. And there many new shops.
DeleteWhat is the address?
ReplyDelete111 rue Mouffetard 75005
DeleteThe sandwich looks delicious as does that luscious chicken. Do you know the name of the mustard they used for the massage? I love your newsletters. ❤️
ReplyDeleteI will ask next time. Everything they use is special 👍
DeleteThank you so very much!
DeleteThe chicken looks so damn good. All the work that he puts into his food. It is done with love and it always tastes better. Lynne
ReplyDeleteOmg I want that sandwich! It’s in my personal Paris guidebook, ready for my next trip to Rue Mouffetard. Would it be crazy for you to do a Paris map of cooked chicken ? Just asking..,,,
ReplyDeleteI thought of doing a rotisserie chicken map at one point.
DeleteIt would entail a lot of leg work and eating many chicken legs…not very practical.
Le Figaro does surveys like that much better than I can. You need staff.
Yum Making their own Mayo. I used to make my own years ago. The side dishes look so tasty. I would be there daily.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the prayers. The sandwich looks delish. I hope your visit brings them luck.
ReplyDeleteWould this be the same site where Janice McLeod met her future husband Christophe 10 or so years ago????????
ReplyDeleteNever.
DeleteRotisserie Segar is only 2 years old and much higher quality 👍
I envy you Lynne
ReplyDeleteToo much temptation 🍗 & distraction 🧁 in this town
DeleteI too lived on the rue Mouffetard, years ago when, as an American student, I was writing my dissertation on French Baroque architecture. The apartment was in one of the narrow original late seventeenth-century buildings. Imagine my surprise when winter arrived and I discovered there was no heating, except for a tiny fireplace! I treasure that experience, and have been searching ever since for a tarte aux pommes de terre like the one from the boulangerie down the street (flaky pastry on both top and bottom)! Carol, your posts bring back so many lovely memories!
ReplyDeleteIt’s OK if you’re not on the top floor. You get heat from the other apartments I was told by Rachel Khoo when I sublet her Little Paris Kitchen in the 19th 😳

Another terrific CG find! You must have a special ‘foodie radar’! This one has to go to the top of the ‘must places to visit’ list. 🙏🏻
ReplyDeleteA must-visit several times 👍
DeleteThat chicken and sandwich look delicious. Thank you for the prayers for LA - this disaster is far from over and is truly devastating.
ReplyDeleteLooks AMAZING! I’m saving tge location for my next visit to Paris. Saving marinade ingredients too. Thank you for your kind thoughts on the fires in Southern California. I’m 50 miles south and still very scary.
ReplyDeleteI’m so jealous!!! We have a shortage of chicken in Ontario due to the avian flu. You have a wonderful life Carol, so glad you are willing to share! ❤️😘🇨🇦
ReplyDeleteLoved your post…made me hungry for a chicken sandwich. 🍗🥪😋
