Flags are flying at Porte de Versailles no matter the rainy ☔️ weather through 3 March
Mini flags ๐ช๐ธ are flying at the Spanish stand (HO69) at Salon du Fromage second day of a 3-day tasting fair. What a clever way to show a cheese’s origins & to grab a sample ๐
You know I ❤️ anything miniature…many mini flags came home. And ๐ง samples too.
Perhaps domes capture cheese ๐ง aromas best? They lift the dome. You get a fragrant whiff ๐ like at perfume counters?
This is the first year Salon du Fromage is open to the public.
You could buy a ticket last month and pay half (15€). If you bought a ticket ๐️ yesterday (35€).
Except, as always for butter ๐ง king, Maison Bordier. Nice display. People waiting patiently. Nothing happening ๐ I moved on. Maybe you have to go to Saint-Malofor a taste ๐
Of course there are cheese lectures included and cheese contests. The French ❤️ LOVE ๐ฅ foodie contests/concours. Even an international grilled cheese contest I was sad ๐ข to miss.
ALWAYS look for the words, ‘Lait Cru’ for best quality from small producers when buying cheese ๐ง in France. ‘Lait pasteurize’ is industrially produced.
I loved ❤️ witty Pavรฉ de Paris (BO92) which looks pavรฉ/ cobblestones on my street. Creamy layers of ๐ milk + ๐ milk ๐
Salon du Fromage continues today until 7:00/19:00. You cannot buy the cheese ๐ง on display to bring home.
But go down one floor in Halle 7 and there is plenty to bring home at Salon d’Agriculture on through Sunday.
I happily brought home my cloves from Mayotte. 100 grams/3 ounces for 5€. Cloves are rare and difficult to hand gather from tall trees. I may go back for another bag..

A good way to spend a rainy day…tasting cheese๐ง! How does one cleanse the pallet after so many bites? I guess it doesn’t matter, it’s all just fun!๐ผ❤️
ReplyDeleteVery good point Daina ๐
DeleteThere is wine ๐ท and quince jams as palette cleansers.
“Drinking a glass of water, eating a lemon wedge or an unsalted cracker, a slice of apple. Doing this between bites allows you to taste the full flavor of the cheese and truly appreciate its complexity.”
DeleteI love cheese! I would be in heaven in there!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a cheese heaven experience
DeleteEverything was tempting.
Savory can be more tempting and complex then sweet sometimes.
I love fromage aussi..Your map is so cute!
ReplyDeleteThank you Monique ❤️
DeleteWhat a lovely post! I can almost taste and smell it all. I feel a bit jealous and hungry!!! Thank you.
ReplyDeleteThank you! It was a very rich, sensory experience.
DeleteCarol, I've never wished that I could go to a wine-tasting, but have sure wished I could go to a cheese-tasting party. So many kinds/flavors and too expensive to buy many to taste "just to see" for this girl. I only discovered Brie on a plane not long ago! When I saw that big chunk of parmigiana, it reminded me of Samuel Pepys burying his own in his garden during the great fire of London.
ReplyDeleteI get jealous when I see all the wonderful things you can go out and do on weekends there. So lovely. We DO have the eclipse coming right over here but darn it doesn't involve chocolate or macarons.
Thank you for the Samuel Pepys story of burying his own Parmigiana in his garden during the great fire of London!!
DeleteI am with you on cheese ๐ง tasting vs wine ๐ท tasting & you end up drunk๐
I know some choose just one flavor to explore at these grand tastings.
I’m more hap hazard. Whatever presents itself I glom onto.
All that cheese in one spot would be quite overwhelming, but in a good way. We did a cheese tasting on our last visit and it was so much fun we're going to do it again this year.
ReplyDeleteIt was a little overwhelming to see so many cheese brands in one place.
DeleteHow to choose?
There were guided cheese ๐ง tastings going on as well.
Another jealous comment!! Cheese tasting on such a grand scale…wow! Everything looks yummy. Did you try the fig-almond cake with your cheese? Europeans have such creative cheese pairings.
ReplyDeleteHope you get to go back to the Salon again so we can live vicariously through you!
Ha The Spain ๐ช๐ธ stand, Quorum GAVE me that half circle pack of blended dates-walnuts = out of this world deliciousness ๐
DeleteThis sounds wonderful! We are still on vacation on the French side of st martin๐I look forward to getting all your artwork when I get home ๐

DeleteWow, what a fabulous adventure. That IS a lot of cheese. Best pic is of the glass of champagne. Always a perfect accompaniment to cheese!

Be still my heart. I cannot resist cheese. Biggest sigh!
ReplyDeleteYou would be in big trouble at this salon du ๐ง Jeanie
DeleteHa Ha! You got me with that miniature setting of the cheese demo in a box! It looked so realistic. When I saw the next picture I thought "Whaaaat?" Good job!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteHahaha Amazingly ๐ง realistic ๐
