Having 2 dogs seems a trend. I spied my Maison Plisson checked bag, which is ready for the rubbish…maybe I should replace it. It is waterproof, which in rainy ☔️ Paris is a plus ๐
Speaking of bags, I spotted what looked like a Longchamp classic Tote bag, but with leather corners!
Later in Bon Marchรฉ, I asked the salesman if the tote bag came with leather corners? The corners always wear out first. He said, “No way”. Hmm, planned obsolescence.
Solutions from the comments ๐ Longchamp will repair their Le Pliage bags for free if your corners wear out. And you can buy DIY kits on Etsy.
It’s the season. Mimosa was introduced to the South of France from Australia in the 19th century by wealth English with homes on the Cote d'Azur. It quickly escaped from gardens and grew prolifically in the area. It is much loved by the French and appears in many French gardens. Who knew except maybe the Aussies on board.
On the home front, I got out my vase collection with grand plans to pick up flowers today to paint at marchรฉ Bastille…but it’s raining ☔️ out
Other news in the Marais, spotted yesterday, Italian Gelato Grom has closed shop & given up the ghost, trying to compete with home-grown Pozzetta
THE BOOKSELLERS WILL NOT BE MOVED DURING THE GAMES

☕️ Love❤️Parisbreakfast? you can buy me a KO-FI ☕️
Thanks for meandering with me in the Marais dear PBers
As an Australian I was pretty exited when I saw wattle (mimosa) at a flower shop in Paris one January winter I was there. I was surprised but now I know how it got there. I love wattle!
ReplyDeleteNice new the book sellers can stay for the Olympics. I think if you were there for some sport and touristy things it would be disappointing if the classic river booksellers weren’t there - give people real Paris for the games!
Thanks Kirra ๐ I as hoping that would chime your bell ๐
DeleteYES Give people the REAL PARIS for the games ๐ And I would like not to be here to see it ๐ซฃ For some unknown reason they are ripping out benches along Bd. Henri IV? Why? So parade watchers cannot stand on them?!
DeleteThe mimosa are so pretty. Are they fragrant ? It was fun to see Paris breaking out into spring. Hope it continues. Here our temps are up & down. I am so happy the book sellers are going to stay put.. Enjoy the nice weather Carol๐ผ❤️ ๐
ReplyDeleteEveryone was sniffing like mad.
DeleteI didn’t & now I regret it…
As an Aussie, I can reassure you that wattle/mimosa doesn't really have a scent, but I do love to gently fondle those petit fluff balls ๐๐ผ
DeleteMy granddaughter arrived in Paris on Friday for an art trip. I’m glad the weather is nice. She won’t be there long and goes to Amsterdam later in the week. She is a wonderful artist herself. I always wanted to go with her! The mimosa is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteGood luck ๐ to her. Too bad you couldn’t join her.
DeleteLongchamp will repair their Le Pliage bags for free if your corners wear out.

ReplyDelete"I've been following your blog for a while, and I must say it's been an enlightening journey. Your posts not only inform but also ignite a curiosity to delve deeper into the subjects you discuss. Thank you for being a constant source of inspiration!" Evian B.
ReplyDeleteThank you ❤️ so kind
DeleteReally great news about les bouquinistes! A while ago you included a link to an online petition to keep them in Paris during the Olympics. I signed that petition and I'd like to think that together, your subscribers who also signed, have made a difference in speaking out about keeping this important Parisienne fixture. Paris is not Paris without the bouquinistes! Thank you Carol!
ReplyDeleteThat’s great you signed. It was a big issue for Parisians to lose thรฉ bouquinistes. Fortunately they listened to the public ๐❤️
DeleteApparently you can buy DIY kits on the internet (for example on Ebay or Etsy) to sew leather corners on your Longchamp Le Pliage bags. If you aren't handy with sewing, I imagine you could ask a shoe repair place to do it for you. Great post today, Carol. Lots of fun photos with the dogs!
ReplyDeleteGreat Longchamp bag info. Thank you ๐
DeleteEasy to find the link on Etsy

ReplyDeleteCarol always love seeing the city, but especially the dogs! Great post as always. I don’t comment often, just love reading what’s going on from your side of the globe.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I look forward to your posts - they take me back to Paris. I look at your Eiffel Tower Spring and Fall pictures that I bought on the wall of my office. Your work is so charming! Sheryl
ReplyDeleteLove this stroll, Thank you! I've mostly been in Paris in early spring..those sunny days!!...I want to return but can't for now. Lulu dans la rue interested me w those little drawings. Great website. I'll listen again (& again) to the video to understand it all...You know, I think you are so lucky to be living in Paris...
ReplyDeleteLulu is fun. I once hired a very good cleaner from there. I could use them now. Desperately ๐
DeleteGREAT news for Paris and the bouquinistes. And the new spire on Notre Dame, too. That mimosa is marvelous. Enjoy the cafes and the good weather!
ReplyDeleteHa! I was going to show ND’s revealed spire Jeanie!
DeleteTres heureuse au sujet des bouquinistes!!!!! Bravi!
ReplyDeleteI was over the top happy when I heard the bouquinistes were going to stay. I can't imagine Paris without them.
ReplyDeleteI know ๐ We all are thrilled ๐
DeleteThank you for these wonderful photos. You've shown once again that February is a nice month to visit Paris, even if it rains. It's lovely to see the mimosas and daffodils everywhere!
ReplyDeleteUpbeat post! So happy the booksellers can stay put. Great news...
ReplyDeleteThanks, Carol. Love the pairs of doggies and the mimosas AND your swimming pool!!! ❤❤❤ Carla
ReplyDeleteI was happy for the bouquinistes:) Yes 2 dogs seem the rage..Not sure about the striped pyjamas. It's like the tik tok account in Palm Beach..What are you wearing? Chanel Chanel Chanel..Gucci etc..such a blatant exercise in brag .Why?I would pick that fougasse in a heartbeat.Bravo encore les bouquinistes.
ReplyDeleteGrey hounds get chilly I guess…delicate creatures ๐คท♀️
DeleteWell…apparently we didn’t buy enough Grom gelato. ๐ข Gelato de Marchese at Odeon has severely cut back their hours. Hopefully just for the winter. ?
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear Les bouquinistes are staying put. Moving them would have been a logistical nightmare.
Grazie mille Gelato Queen for the info ๐
