Lucid Food: Cooking for an Eco-Conscious Life

The CSA fruit lady gave me these apricots.
Go round Paris wolfing down desserts daily and you'll need to counter-balance it. With super healthy food like this salade at Merci 111 Beaumarchais Bd. Lucid Food Lucky for me, my niece, Louisa Shafia of Lucid Food is an expert on eating healthfully, seasonally and eco-friendly. Lucid Food And she has a gorgeous book to guide you in the process.
Lucid Food We all show our talents early.
As a tot I scribbled on the walls.
Louisa (in the stripes was particular about food.
If you stole food off her plate she let out blood-curdling screams.
Her Thanksgiving cornbread was always exceptional.
Lucid Food In June I attended her class, 'Veggie Burgers Around the World' at the Natural Gourmet Institute. She could not have been more poised or a better instructor. These are delish BEET burgers by the way not beef burgers and on her blog Lucid Food. Lucid Food My mother was an adventurous eater and would practically force-feed my sister and I exotic foods like persimmons and pomegranates.
Lucid Food Louisa takes after her grandmother and has intrepid tastebuds. Last Thursday we went on a tour of Greek Astoria.
Lucid Food Back in my kitchen Louisa performed miracles.
Lucid Food I watched Lou make Tzaziki from scratch - recipe on her blog.
Lucid Food I learned: de-seed cucs with a grapefruit spoon, de-stem dill for more digestible eating. Now I store food in glass jars not plastic. I joined a local CSA thanks to darlin' Lou.
Lucid Food Our lunch!
Lucid Food Our dessert - CSA melon and apricots from the fruit lady
Lucid Food Not this!
Lucid Food I planned to make Louisa's FAB Watermelon Gazpacho from her book, but I was recovering from macaron mayhem.
Do visit her blog Lucid Food and check out her beautiful book.
BONJOUR LOUISA!

  1. I watched Louisa the other day online putting that salad nicoise together. She's lovely--very poised. I do the same thing to cukes, and I am going to have to check out her tzaziki recipe--I LOVE good tzaziki. You look great in that photo, too--handsome AND talented family, Carol!

I agree that it would be great if you illustrated a book of your niece's food!
(I like that expression, "adventurous eater.")

  13. I was raised in a very poor family, so I have never experienced much of what you write about. I signed up to receive email posts of her blog, though. They look wonderful!

We went to Elias for dinner, the best grilled fish, and then food shopping at Titan.
    They have the best baklava!
