Eiffel Tower Homage, original art With just 12 days to go before I will be in Paris.Place de la Concord, original art, 5" x 7" I'm deep into anti-phobia training.
The Eiffel Tower will be right out my window, not to mention just a stones throw away once I make it down the 6-7 flights of stairs to the outside.
To help break my Eiffel Tower aversion I found this adorable paper tower on Etsy at Blissfull Elements. It's helping I think.
Should I be drinking my morning hot chocolate out of an Eiffel Tower cup?
Maybe an origami-esque red paper version on my desk would do the trick?
Surely a solid chocolate tower would help.
Like these from Deskaledes at the Paris chocolate show. Here the tower is combined with a macaron! Perfection. If I come home wearing these tower socks you'll know I not only survived but have become a passionate advocate! ~ BONJOUR TOUR EIFFEL!
Ive been wanting some fun socks! I like those. Once LW and I ate at the restaurant Jules Verne on the second level of the Tour Effiel. I don't remember the food but it was great fun. xxxxx
Bonjour Carol - J'adore la tour eiffel and your new paintings! Reading this post today made me think of a post I wrote last year that I think you'd appreciate (http://antiquesdiva.blogspot.com/2008/08/reader-question-eiffel-tower-collection.html). When I moved from Paris all my friends gave me an Eiffel Tower to remember them by - it's a wonderful collection that makes me smile each time I see it! Great work as always! Toma
Dear Carol, I love your paintings, especially the Eiffel Towers. I collect them and have too many in my apartment. My granddaughter calls them Grandma's Icicle Towers! Have a wonderful time in Paris.
Wow, what a great blog! I especially love the picture of the Eiffel Tower macaroon and that pink paper Eiffel Tower - so creative! The Eiffel Tower is an amazing work of art, but you know, when it was first erected the Parisians hated it! Now it's making them millions of Euros every year through tourism! Go figure!
Dear Anonymous, IF your comments get "bounced" and you get a RED message, just give the POST COMMENT button another plunk and it will go through. Happens all the time to me. GOIND DOWN STAIRS is not good for you according to the NYTImes. More about it tomorrow...
Keep 'em coming! I truly enjoy your posts... I am trying to find someone to talk French with here in California...if you have any Francophones around the Southern California area, please let me know. Bon Voyage if I don't hear from you till after Paris
As you can imagine, being consumed by the Eiffel Tower as I am, I LOVE these pieces of yours! And by the way, I have all 3 of those exact socks! The Tie Rack, at the Louvre carousel shops?
I know you must see a lot of window displays but do you remember what store I might find the tower with macaroon on top? I'm seeking a gift for my niece. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks, Shella
Bonjour ! I’m Carol Gillott, a former NYer living on ÃŽle Saint-Louis in a 21 meter chambre de bonne. As a Paris blogger, travel writer, watercolorist, and photographer, I share my latest escapades so you can walk around the city vicariously in my shoes. To experience even more of the Parisian life, sign up to receive my beautifully Illustrated monthly letters where I paint the Paris your dreams and mail them
to you wherever you are. You can order these letters, along with my art prints, at my Etsy shop.
Describe what you love about France in 3 words. Can we make it 5 words? Eyes, ears, nose, tastebuds + brain. Paris stimulates all my senses constantly. I’m inspired all the time – endlessly surprised and amused. New York doesn’t do it for me anymore…
Oh, Carol,
ReplyDeletethese paintings were worth waiting for,
they are divine!
Please don't buy the Mona Lisa socks,
she may bite you in the ankle, judging from that grin of hers. ;-)
