Signs of Spring...

12°F (Feels like: 3°F)
Humph... and they said yesterday was the coldest day of the year. Gypsy Purple said...Wow, the daffodil sketches are lovely, the colours just warms you. It would be lovely to see more.
I went looking for signs of SPRING on Monday. I found this 50's tea cup at ABC Carpet, my favorite browsing store. I went back and bought it yesterday for still life usage and it is "Springy".
The Metropolitan Museum of Art has a gift shop at Rockefeller Center. And of course their windows were full of "Springy" prints - even for the guys.
Look at these pressed glass chickens sitting in FISHS EDDY's window on 889 Broadway! Can you get more "Springy" than that?
Yes, Teuscher Chocolates at Rockefeller Center is definitely way more "Springy"!
Also at Rockefeller Center, a sign that Spring is not just around the corner😊

I don't know--I used to love going into the city with my dad and having lunch watching the skaters at Rockefeller plaza. Something very soothing in that memory...cold or not. And I love the museum shops--they always have fun things to browse through. That store you mention with the teacup sounds like great fun. But hmmmmm....12 degrees is a bit nipppy. Keep painting those spring images and it will be here soon, Carol!

Love the watercolor sketches. Yesterday's blog made me go outside to sketch and paint daffodils blooming in one of my garden beds... It wasn't to bad for my first atempt using watercolor's, but they 'ain't' Carols. Grin. She makes it look soooo easy..but it was lot's of fun and something I plan to do more of. Sorry Carol, but it was 60 degrees while I was out there painting and it felt soooo good...FINALLY some warmth has come our way. This has been the coldest winter..Hang in there.. it WILL get warmer soon.
I can't wait to see what you do with that spring tea cup. I love the flowers on it.

Love your daffodils and the other "signs of spring." Loved your post yesterday! Here in California it's warming up-was in the 70s yesterday-wish all of you could be here with me!

  7. Better fly south and paint some Kentucky dreams...a balmy 72 degrees right now...although you might have to settle for Dove chocolate from Wal-mart in a simple plastic bag for treats...

    BIG Announcement
I will NOT be tackling white TULIPS or any other flower, until I "get" the daffodils!
    Sorry folks.
That's just the way it has to be..
Think of Cezanne with his millions of apples...
    OK over and out :)

  13. It looks like we are thinking the same these last few days. We both have spring flowers on our minds and Tea is never far behind that. Paris in springtime....that should be a song!

Wonderful site! Glad a friend sent it to me. I am in Michigan and itching to start gardening now. My watercolors do not even begin to take on the color and wonderful form of these! I agree with the writer who said she had to do them over and over and over...

  16. Thank you for posting your beautiful watercolors on your blog! They make me happy.

Love hearing from you
