MRI Paris Pinks

As you slide onto the MRI table, you don't expect to see pink cherry blossoms overhead.
But no, they don't give you a pink paper hat to wear whilst inside getting zapped.
Nor do they wrap you in pink sheets(like French Girl sleeps in every night).
No decorative pink tassels (again c/o French Girl) hanging from the equipment, though it would certainement be an improvement.

It can get breezy inside an MRI, but they've forgotten to provide a pink scarf to wrap around you neck.

After you're finished and have survived the ordeal, no pink truck comes to pick you up malheureusement.

Nor are you assisted out of your surgical gown by aides in hot pink aprons - whyever not?

A post-MRI snack would be very welcome, especially in pink, but dream on.

Snacking under pink umbrellas wouldn't be remiss.

A hello from a rose in the Rodin museum garden - M.I.A.

French Rose Tea, watercolor, 9" x 11"
Instead I went home and tried to paint in bed this rose.
There are hazards to that activity - like spilling your jar of paint water over everything!
BONJOUR MRI PARIS PINKS!
Here's a tip for coping with an MRI - don't get much sleep the night before and you'll doze like a baby inside the blasted/blasting thing.
Well I did :)

Paris Saint-Valentin Report

Petite Coeur Rouge, 9" x 11"

Have you let your beloved know what you would like for Saint-Valentin's day yet?

Perhaps you were thinking along the lines of a millefeuille en forme de coeur from Lenotre?
Pierre Herme has an elaborate fruity heart for those who are into counting their daily fruits and veg...
A filligree container of what? Qui sait?

Chocolatier Patrick Roger never disappoints when it comes to 'creativity'. This has to be for les mecs non? PLEASE do not leave this outside my door, merci beaucoup. For the bookish among you Hugo & Victor have their usual Moleskine albums full of chockies..
Heart-shaped cupcakes anyone for the DIY bakers?

I don't know what magic ingredients are in Fauchon's love jam - if it has healing powers I'm ready to try it.
A cariar dinner at Petrossian? I'm game...
I would LOVE one of these tarte au fraise from Carette, especially if it had a little pleated paper case/"Les caissettes plissées. Merci Patricia H. for the important info.
In fact I already got my Saint-Valentins gift - a pair of gents boxers covered in purple macarons from Rick Tulka in Paris. He felt I had to have it and I did. So I'm covered.
As for the BACK report:

We get an MRI tomorrow (for the 1st time [eeek])

More physical therapy, this time at the clinic with machines etc.

And we're finally sleeping better, walking(hobbling) better and without the cane sometimes (yay!)

THANK YOU PBers for all your kind messages and vibes!

Kiss-Kiss

BONJOUR SAINT-VALENTIN!

Gerard Mulot!

Patissiere Gerard Mulot has a thing for hot pink.

So many hot pink pastry boxes and bags...

I saved this Mulot pink box long ago.

I even made a 3" mini version en homage.

BEAR found my pink pastry box in pieces and decided he MUST put it back together

Et voila!
BEAR to the rescue again - he put it together with spit and polish so I could then paint it.

~
My next project is to figure out

How to paint these pleated papers the pastries are sitting on called "Les caissettes plissées."

Of course I saved a few amidst my other Paris trash.

But they're flattened out and useless

BEAR has made it his mission to figure out how to paint these pleated papers. I'm waiting with baited breath for the answer
BONJOUR GERARD MULOT!

Mad About Macarons

Just as Repetto has 300-500 different colored ballerina slippers

French Girl has on hand an endless array of chocolate bar flavors

That's how I discovered her irresistable Cote d'Or Citron Gingimbre - I am forever addicted.

French Flavor Spoons,  9" x 11"

This past weekend, while I was painting in bed, BEAR was busy reading my new book, Mad About Macarons, full of exotic flavors up the whazoo

Scottish author Jill Colonna lives in Paris for 20+ years and she's made it her mission to help the rest of the world make Parisien macarons

Jill lets her imagination run wild with macaron possibilities - well that's what BEAR says.

Jill has a macaron forum where she answers all your questions directly.

I've never seen so many exclamations of macaron success first time round, right off the bat!

I would love to know if it's possible to make macarons without a Kitchen Aid? Meanwhile I'll admire her Caramel Macaron 'Tatin'-style vicariously...

Parisian Gift-With-Purchase

When you're lying on the floor for a week.

(Because your mattress is on the floor and you've got sciatica)

Your perspective changes.

You notice you're surrounded by 'Paris Trash'!

You get a tremendous urge to do something about it.

A massive clean sweep seems very appealing.

But then it occurs that perhaps others would enjoy...

These French ribbons, biz cards, napkins, shopping bags, Gerard Mulot postcards and Gawd knows what else.

Lurking within boxes and files of saved Parisien bits and pieces.

So henceforth, any PBers buying a watercolor at Etsy or from me directly, will receive a surprise Gift-with-Purchase of some of the above. I can't guarantee exactly what you'll get and supplies are limited, but I promise it will be pretty and fun.

If like me, you can't bare being engulfed by Parisien Souvenirs, you can always enjoy them vicariously in a book - Shop Image Graphics in Paris. I wrote about it here.

BONJOUR PARIS TRASH!

Update

The Houston Museum of Natuural History courtesy of the Houston Museum of Natural History
'Update' doesn't seem like the right word...
Is 'downdate' a word?
I'm stuck here like a pinned bug waiting to hear on Monday's x-rays, hopefully by Thursday...
Waiting to hear anything at all.
Bonjour PBers
