You might not think this is a part of my Paris life but it is ๐ฌ
My transient next door neighbors (they must be Brits) started whooping it up at 3:AM (singing, shouting, moving furniture) with the windows open to boot and it is very Cold ๐ฅถ out.
When ever there is a lot of noise in my building, I always check the Sports page ๐ Finally someone came ๐ and put a stop ๐ to them at 4:00 AM ๐๐คธ♂️
I use Rachel Khoo’s yummy recipe with cider..
He asked if I had a plate with me? I said Nooo… He found one ๐คธ♂️
On Friday I had my author/illustrator meeting with Messy Nessy Chic at her shop, Cabinet. She is very ready for Valentins Day ❤️
Nessy mentioned she was had a movie ๐ฟ date that night…
A ha… I left and went looking for an early show of A COMPLETE UNKNOWN.
I Admit I was a bit of a sceptic going in, but 2+ hours flew by. It is really a long concert of Dylan’s fabulous music ๐ต and others as well.
Dylan OK’d every line of the script by the way.
If you’re a fan DO NOT MISS IT ๐ I’m going back ๐ to see it again.
This week Lauren Collins in her Substack letter mentioned the leading brand of shampoo for French women is Garnier Ultra Doux. I got a shot of it. Now to go back and buy it for the pool ๐ Have you tried it? Avocat or Miel?
On Wednesday I was wading through the jungle ๐ด at 1001 Orchidรฉe at Jardin des Plantes ๐ชด
So that was my Paris week that was ๐
Thank you, as always Carol! The little trips to Paris and France are even more helpful in these unstable times in the US. Especially enjoying the photo of the pool! I’ve heard about the fabulous neighborhood pools of Paris but never been to one. xo Margot
ReplyDeleteThank you Margot.
Delete36+ terrific pools in Paris ๐

Yes, big Six Nations Rugby match yesterday. England beat France 26 - 25, so your neighbors must be Brits if they were celebrating. We get to make noise today in the US; Super Bowl Sunday. Meh, just an excuse to eat junk food!
ReplyDeleteYay you for going to the pool and resubscribing! And your huรฎtres look fabulous! A good week, Carol. ❤️
Ah….JUNK FOOOD ๐
DeleteI always find Garnier products have too much perfume for me. Loved 'A Complete Unknown'!
ReplyDeleteGarnier: Miel. Sorry for my countrymen’s behavior which is completely unacceptable. Glad to see you read the Guardian though.
ReplyDeleteWhy don’t you paint a few of the diner with food of America. I love that one. Lynne
ReplyDeleteIf you spend much time in the pool, you may want a shampoo that get the chlorine out of hair so it doesn't turn that greenish pool color. Your painting of the swimmer was really excellent but then again - all your work is excellent!! Jean
ReplyDeleteLike THE BOY WITH THE GREEN HAIR…an ancient movie ๐ฅ
DeleteThanks Jean,
DeleteI Always put conditioner on my hair first.
Works a charm ๐
Read it in a swimming mag years ago
OH, CAROL, YOU TAKE THE PRIZE OF THE DAY!!! WHAT A DAME!! MY DEAR SON WHO IS 50 NOW, IS WORRIED ABOUT BEING "OLD", I JUST SENT HIM THIS ONE THIS MORNING. HE'S INDEED NOT "OLD", FULL OF LIFE, ENERGY, EXERCISE. HIS GOAL NOW HE TELLS ME IS TO STAY SNOW BOARDING UNTIL HE'S 77! THANKS FOR YOUR LIFE CONTRIBUTION TO PBers!!! CAN'T LIVE W/O YOU!!! CARLA
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great week: oysters, swimming, and Bob Dylan's music! I don't think I could really enjoy oysters at the market without a glass of dry white wine though.
ReplyDeleteI've tried the Garnier Ultra Doux with avocado. It was ok, but Kerastase is much better. Less expensive than Kerastase, and a really excellent shampoo, is Mielle Organics Rosemary and Mint. You may not be able to buy it at Monoprix, but Amazon.fr has it for about 13 euros in a generous pump bottle.
Great info Kiwi as usual ๐
DeleteThanks
SEPHORA has Keratase
DeleteI think Collins was noting Garnier is very popular with French women, not the quality.
Any week with fresh oysters is a good week.

DeleteI’m with you Suki ๐ฆช
DeleteAlthough a dozen is a lot of oysters I discovered
I really enjoyed reading about the oyster seller providing you with a plate, since you didn't bring one of your own! How lovely! It looks like he opened them for you too - which is a bit of a challenge, I understand. Adventures (delicious ones) in the marche!
ReplyDeleteOpening oysters is not a challenge with practice. I keep meaning to do this & I have all the tools…just not the courage ๐
DeleteThose shampoo bottles could be confused with mustard varieties! Do be careful! I think this is a gimmick. You need really good shampoo otherwise your hair suffers terribly..becoming dry, dull, greasy. flat, flaky. etc. You could make your own hair mask I think. Thank you the lovely pictures!
ReplyDeleteI am of the no-wash school. It’s amazing how glossy your hair becomes with infrequent shampoos ๐
DeletePS Absolutely DO NOT USE dishwashing fluid in a pinch.
DeleteStrips your hair.
Lesson learned ๐
I volunteered at a Joan Baez event at Commonwealth Club World Affairs in San Francisco a couple of weeks ago. She was there to promote her new book of poetry but the interviewer kept asking her about Dylan. She answered some then was tired, sighing, "MORE Dylan?" so we in the audience told the interviewer to stop and move on to her poetry. I will see the film, tho
ReplyDeleteGood interviewers are rare as hen’s teeth ๐ฆท
DeleteBesides she has answered the Dylan questions so many times - all on youtube = boring.

DeleteLove, love love the Dylan movie!, Glad you enjoyed it too.
ReplyDeleteIt’s hard not to love ❤️ if you like music ๐ต ๐ฅฐ
