My Paris Life This Week

I just got back from Piscine Pontoise this morning.

I have not been for months and months but it sure felt good to get my feet ๐Ÿฆถ wet.
This green bracelet thing is proof of my abonnement/3 month subscription (38€ for 3 months).
You might not think this is a part of my Paris life but it is ๐Ÿ˜ฌ
My transient next door neighbors (they must be Brits) started whooping it up at 3:AM (singing, shouting, moving furniture) with the windows open to boot and it is very Cold ๐Ÿฅถ out.
When ever there is a lot of noise in my building, I always check the Sports page ๐Ÿ™„ Finally someone came ๐Ÿ‘ and put a stop ๐Ÿ›‘ to them at 4:00 AM ๐Ÿ™€๐Ÿคธ‍♂️
Yesterday I went looking for Moule/mussels at the Saturday Mutualitรฉ marchรฉ.
Most weekends I try to make Moule when they are in season.
I use Rachel Khoo’s yummy recipe with cider..
I was too late ⏰ All mussels were gone ๐Ÿคท‍♀️but I spotted fresh oysters/huitres ๐Ÿฆช
I asked the guy if I could buy a dozen ๐Ÿฆช & eat them right there?
He asked if I had a plate with me? I said Nooo… He found one ๐Ÿคธ‍♂️
So briny ๐ŸŒŠ & fresh ๐Ÿ˜€  Answered prayers ๐Ÿ™
On Friday I had my author/illustrator meeting with Messy Nessy Chic at her shop, Cabinet. She is very ready for Valentins Day ❤️
Nessy mentioned she was had a movie ๐Ÿฟ date that night…
A ha… I left and went looking for an early show of A COMPLETE UNKNOWN.
I Admit I was a bit of a sceptic going in, but 2+ hours flew by. It is really a long concert of Dylan’s fabulous music ๐ŸŽต and others as well.
Dylan OK’d every line of the script by the way.
If you’re a fan DO NOT MISS IT ๐Ÿ‘ I’m going back ๐Ÿ‘ to see it again.
This week Lauren Collins in her Substack letter mentioned the leading brand of shampoo for French women is Garnier Ultra Doux. I got a shot of it. Now to go back and buy it for the pool ๐ŸŠ Have you tried it? Avocat or Miel?
On Wednesday I was wading through the jungle ๐ŸŒด at
1001 Orchidรฉe at Jardin des Plantes ๐Ÿชด
So that was my Paris week that was ๐Ÿ˜Š

Thank you, as always Carol! The little trips to Paris and France are even more helpful in these unstable times in the US. Especially enjoying the photo of the pool! I’ve heard about the fabulous neighborhood pools of Paris but never been to one. xo Margot

Yes, big Six Nations Rugby match yesterday. England beat France 26 - 25, so your neighbors must be Brits if they were celebrating. We get to make noise today in the US; Super Bowl Sunday. Meh, just an excuse to eat junk food!

Yay you for going to the pool and resubscribing! And your huรฎtres look fabulous! A good week, Carol. ❤️

I always find Garnier products have too much perfume for me. Loved 'A Complete Unknown'!

  4. Garnier: Miel. Sorry for my countrymen’s behavior which is completely unacceptable. Glad to see you read the Guardian though.

Why don’t you paint a few of the diner with food of America. I love that one. Lynne

If you spend much time in the pool, you may want a shampoo that get the chlorine out of hair so it doesn't turn that greenish pool color. Your painting of the swimmer was really excellent but then again - all your work is excellent!! Jean

  8. Sounds like a great week: oysters, swimming, and Bob Dylan's music! I don't think I could really enjoy oysters at the market without a glass of dry white wine though.
I've tried the Garnier Ultra Doux with avocado. It was ok, but Kerastase is much better. Less expensive than Kerastase, and a really excellent shampoo, is Mielle Organics Rosemary and Mint. You may not be able to buy it at Monoprix, but Amazon.fr has it for about 13 euros in a generous pump bottle.

      SEPHORA has Keratase
I think Collins was noting Garnier is very popular with French women, not the quality.

I really enjoyed reading about the oyster seller providing you with a plate, since you didn't bring one of your own! How lovely! It looks like he opened them for you too - which is a bit of a challenge, I understand. Adventures (delicious ones) in the marche!

Opening oysters is not a challenge with practice. I keep meaning to do this & I have all the tools…just not the courage ๐Ÿ™„

Those shampoo bottles could be confused with mustard varieties! Do be careful! I think this is a gimmick. You need really good shampoo otherwise your hair suffers terribly..becoming dry, dull, greasy. flat, flaky. etc. You could make your own hair mask I think. Thank you the lovely pictures!

I am of the no-wash school. It’s amazing how glossy your hair becomes with infrequent shampoos ๐Ÿ‘

PS Absolutely DO NOT USE dishwashing fluid in a pinch.
      Strips your hair.

  12. I volunteered at a Joan Baez event at Commonwealth Club World Affairs in San Francisco a couple of weeks ago. She was there to promote her new book of poetry but the interviewer kept asking her about Dylan. She answered some then was tired, sighing, "MORE Dylan?" so we in the audience told the interviewer to stop and move on to her poetry. I will see the film, tho

Good interviewers are rare as hen’s teeth ๐Ÿฆท
Besides she has answered the Dylan questions so many times - all on youtube = boring.
