Yesterday I went looking for gluten-free pain d’épice (on assignment)
At Chanel
Iwas mostly in Galeries Lafayette
The shiniest, bronzy Büche de Noël from Dalloyau
Under a thin shell of chocolate, a hazelnut and vanilla mousse from Tahiti, biscuit flavored with muscovado sugar, creamy Piedmont hazelnut and its heart flowing hazelnut praline, all on a crispy caramelized dried fruits/Sous une fine coque de chocolat, une mousse noisette et vanille de Tahiti, biscuit parfumé au sucre muscovado, crémeux noisette du Piémont et son cœur coulant praliné noisette, le tout sur un croustillant de fruits secs caramélisés. Pour 6 personnes Yum Yum
I am a big fan of Galerie Lafayette Gourmet
Maybe I was still full from celebrating darling Solli’s birthday at Berthillon on Wednesday.
I hope you enjoyed a look around Paris during the holidays dear PBers. Do you want to see more? Dite moi.
French news radio is full of the bad weather in the US 🙏 Please take care and keep warm☕️ I swear by flannel blankets. Thanks for reading Parisbreakfast. You can help support Bear 🐻 by subscribing to Paris letters and maps,
Carol, you captured the scene perfectly!
ReplyDeleteTHANKS Cindy 😊 it is well-behaved mayhem out there..beaucoup gents!
DeleteYes, would love to see more! And Happy Holidays to you
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting me know 👏 I will try. At least the weather is cooperating 🎉
DeletePS The skies will be mostly cloudy. The high will be 61° !!!
DeleteSo it goes at Christmas time…last minute shoppers no matter how inclement the weather. As your map shows it is a rough one for many of us. Having just moved I am grateful to report my place is toasty warm! My grandson loves flannel sheets.Enjoy the rest of the season and YES send more photos.🗼❤️🎄🎁❄️📸
ReplyDeleteOh happy to hear you’re toasty in your new place Ga! A thumbs up 👍 on Flannel keeping you warm even when it feels.ike you’re sleeping outdoors (my place)
DeleteThere cannot be a better place in the world for last minute shopping than Paris. And those desserts. Beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteHolidays, birthdays, glad you are having such a festive season. ❤️
Here in New England, flannel sheets are for fall & spring. Winter calls for bringing out the fleece sheets. How many wool blankets you pile on top, under your down duvet, depends on the outside temps. Cozy, but I’d much prefer being in Paris enjoying the beauty of your French holiday season.
ReplyDeleteJoyeux fêtes, Carol !
FLEECE! Now you tell me 😯
DeleteI’d love to be there shopping with you! Did you try Noglu bakery for the gluten free pain d’épice?
ReplyDeleteThank you for the suggestion. I got her chestnut flour crackers and Pain d’épice for the rest of us. If places like Naturalia & Bio Comme Bon(etc.) don’t have it…I gave up. There is only so much running around you can do🙏
DeleteWhat a delight!! Thank you! Things are not going at my house as I had wished but you just brought me back to MERRY!!! Carla
ReplyDeleteSo Happy to hear Carla 😊 I was almost not gonna post but then I thought maybe someone out there isn’t shopping
DeleteI have been snowed and iced in for a week, with intermittent power. Absolutely love your posts. So a huge thank you, and appreciate any and all posting you do! ❤️
ReplyDeleteYes, yes! More Paris Christmas photos please! I’m loving the displays, the shoppers and the windows,Thank you Carol!
ReplyDeleteNancy
Carol, I love this post…shopping, eating, deserts, little people ❤️❤️❤️ Dorra
ReplyDeleteThe wonder of Galeries Lafayette = you can find all these ingredients there 👏
DeleteBerthillon’s tea salon is something of a well-kept secret, non? We had breakfast there one morning, it was sparsely attended. Many peeps standing in long lines at the window could instead sit in air conditioned luxury in the tea salon.
ReplyDeleteYour bday party with Solli looked fab! B.
It’s true. They do do breakfast. I don’t think they have a lunch menu per se, but plenty of ice cream and wonderful pastries 🥮 It was only a tea salon to begin with. The ice cream came later on and took off
DeleteThat all looks delicious Annie
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas, Carol! My best gift will be getting your 2023 posts. 💕
ReplyDeleteSweet ❤️😊
DeleteI love your soirées! Paris Christmas windows are magical. I will be back in Paris the first week of January. Maybe some of the displays will still be there? That Artic cold blew all the way down to Houston yesterday. The temperature is 17F this morning!
ReplyDeleteOh my And it was an unseasonable 61 here today!
DeleteI don’t remember when the windows come down…good question.
Black Iced in, so shopping in Paris (if only by my chair in my studio!) is delightful, with all of the glittering colors of Galleries Lafayettes! Merci, and Joyeux Noël to you, Carol!
ReplyDeleteOnly 1 L: Galeries!
ReplyDeleteReally they should put the other L back imho. Big Mistake to take it out. I’m with Mary 💋
DeleteYou outdid yourself. These picture are spectacular. I am in one of the best places and warmest as it continues to get warmer. Lynne
ReplyDeleteWhat a darling thing to say Lynne ❤️
DeleteThere was so much drama going on.
It was easy to capture.
I love seeing things that are traditions elsewhere. I've adopted few over the years. Like buying a bouche de Noel. Keep taking more of those ideas in and sharing them with us.
ReplyDeleteThank you for brightening my somewhat down day (missing my son and husband) and making me feel merrier. I'd skip the shopping and eat pastries.Merry Christmas and hugs to you and Bear.
ReplyDeleteI’m happy to distract you a little Suki…Paris is a good escape ❤️
DeleteMerry Christmas Carol! Thanks for this fabulous post, always love seeing the Galeries Lafayette Christmas tree!
ReplyDeleteThank you for also sharing the secret of the Berthillon tea room, will definitely have to go there ‘next time’, tried Angelina last time but line up was too long so missed out. I’m a big tea and cake fan!
The desserts do look good but I prefer our Australian pavlova for Christmas Day dessert. Looking forward to a nice warm day here, 32C/86F, as it’s our summer time. Keep warm everyone else!
Ahhh…I Love Pavlova Kirra - so light and fruity. Hard to find here. In Summertime occasionally. Berthillon is much smaller and more cosy then Angelina ☕️
DeleteMy sister and I both make it for Christmas, and she lives in Germany. But it really is the perfect summer dessert!
DeleteJoyeux Noël et merci GwenEllyn
ReplyDeleteThank you for all of your beautiful posts!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!
Mary
Love your picture from Chanel. I just opened my brother's gift. It was a bottle of Chanel perfume in the exact same wrapping paper and ribbon! I appreciate your posts and am making notes for my Paris trip at the end of March!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!
