Last night post-postal 📮 run, I went to see Le Bon Marché fabulous holiday decorations. It’s usually a celebration of the l’arbre de Noël. Last year the trees were green.
Looking up and looking down from the escalator.
And at eye-level.A fabulous pile of white and gold Guerlain perfume bottles.
Inside the Grand Epicerie next door, mountains of Italian panettone. The French are mad for it. In New York I never even tasted it. Now I can’t keep my paws off it - the mini single-servings (more like a cupcake) are hard to resist.
Grand Epicerie‘s macarons have always been superb. These are the big ones. The colors!
A fir tree gateau to match the store decorations.
Why are the staff always more chic than the customers? I was looking rag-tag after a day of shipping out Marie-Antoinette 💌 letters...ahem.
The good news is they left me alone to shoot📸 whatever I liked 😃 Particularly the luxe perfume bottles.
I’m obsessed with painting perfume!
Sparkly everything!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite department store in Paris! Such elegance and for me easier to navigate than the others.
ReplyDeleteAs usual beautiful photos Carol.
Thank you.
Oh gosh; those Guerlain bottles! Those colours! Just mouthwatering, all of it!
ReplyDeleteThe windows!...pistachio panettone!...chocolate trees!...camélias on trees!...perfume bottles!!...cakes with trees!...I want it all!
ReplyDeleteYour pics of the Seine at night are awesomely beautiful...post more please !
ReplyDeleteOh, how I'd love to see those displays in person! All those fabulous lights -- they take my breath away!
ReplyDeleteSO Beautiful!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful. You've made my Christmas "shopping." Here in Chicago the downtown is virtually closed. Windows boarded up, no decorations. So sad. Stay healthy.
ReplyDelete“Never better!”
ReplyDeleteWhat a fine reply. It was a snow globe here for about 10 minutes this morning. My love of flocked trees came from Paris. Will put up mine today.
Paris is soooo beautiful at Christmas! I wish I was there. Glad you are and are sharing it's beauty.Thank you.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos. Are there many people in the stores? Are most people wearing masks.
ReplyDeleteYes of course
ReplyDeleteThere is security at the door.
You cannot enter without masks Mira
And I wouldnt be there if it was otherwise.
Thank you! A real spirit-lifter!
ReplyDeleteThank you for fulfilling my Paris yearnings...sigh...so many memories of Christmas in Paris...the most festive place in the world to spend the holidays, imho. Please eat a hunk of that pistachio panettone for me...and the macarons...and the gateaux.
ReplyDeleteThat was very thoughtful of M Frenchie to check on your well being. I love that. ❤️
What a lovely email - Paris looks good enough to eat!!!
ReplyDeleteOh my! It all looks so elegant and blingy. Thanks for sharing the beauty, especially the Seine. Holding my breath until April.
ReplyDeleteWonderful post on BM/LGE...made me very nostalgic.
ReplyDeleteWas it last year, or year before that the trees were upside down?? I like them right side up!
The staff do indeed look chic - no doubt because they do not eat those fabulous looking large macaroons or the glorious panetone...
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely FABULOUS
ReplyDeleteFANTASTIC
YOU MAKE OUR DAY.
the photos of bon marche just about did me in! My absolute favorite store, many wonderful memories of Christmas shopping! We always stayed at the Lutetia, would be there now if only...... but thank you for the great photos

ReplyDeleteParis Nights are gorgeous.
I have nothing to do with it but thanks anyway
Love panettone. It makes a good bread pudding or good with coffee or tea.
ReplyDeleteI recently bought a mini and it gave me a tummy ache...so I am no longer indulging daily I’m very happy to report :))
ReplyDeleteThank you for the joy of Paris! I miss it always!!
