British Blondes

Woke up...Fell out of bed... Forgot to drag a comb across my head... The British bedhead is ever present in shop windows, in the streets and it is BLONDE. Unlike the dependably brunette Frenchies... A future blonde of Britain...

Paris Hair

Paris is a hairy city... The "Bedhead" look is the norm... Hair salon windows are full of it - Hairy hair... Hairy Parisien dogs too... I saw an expo of Vinyl record covers and voila - the Queen of Bedhead herself, Patti Smith. Follow-up bedhead Mom has to be Brit Jane Birkin married to Serge Gainsbourg, born-in-the-wool bedhead. Together they created au currant bedhead babe, Charlotte Gainsbourg, here posing for the new Balenciaga purf You simply can't avoid the bedhead in the Metro...
This fringie scarf matches the hair or vice versa...
There is good reason Parisiens adore le Bedhead:
Roughly translated as: subway-work-sleep etc.
Granted a tremendous amount of upkeep goes into le bedhead as I was reminded daily by French Girl...
I was reminded of all those wonderful Degas bather drawings. And no wonder with all that lush Parisien hair everpresent...
I certainly couldn't resist drawing it any chance I got...

BONJOUR PARIS BEDHEAD!!

Hatless in Paris

It's one of my observations that Parisien women don't wear hats no matter how frigid the weather (Feels like: 16°F)
Warm puffy coat, snazzy studded bag. ✅
Cosy furry boots. ✅
But hatless.
Giant posters of Kate Moss with supremely messy bedhead, advertising her new bag line for Longchamps is not helping.
Even my pictures have a blue cast, it's that cold 🥶
Big puffy coat up over the ears - hair sticking out exposed to the elements.
Lots of exposed ponytails in Paris.
Another one. Both mother and child are hatless. Men too.
Me, I am wearing a hat 🧢 It's glued to my head.
I'm American so I can get away with murder.
Meanwhile shop windows are full of hats like these big blue cabbages 🥬 on top of the manequins...
At Sonia Rykiel's - a simple Kelley green plastic disk is popped on top.
More delicious disks at Gerard Mulot - tarte citron & tarte l'orange.
Why not add a touch of red to your bedhead?
Or go for the Carmen Miranda effect - totalmente fruity.
BONJOUR HATLESS PARISIENS!
