Carette Salon de Thé ☕️ Etc.

Have you been to Carette Salon de Thé?

There are just 2 salons since 1927.
CARETTE at 4, Place du Trocadéro

CARETTE at 25, Place des Vosges.

Plus a crêpe 🥞 stand in Montmartre at 7, Place du Tertre.

So basically 3 total. As far as I know they are not expanding 🙏

Unlike once charming Angelina, with it’s insane lines & worldwide 🌍 expansion 🙀

I went on Friday afternoon for chocolat chaud and to draw ✍️ Carette cups ☕️

With all of Carette’s

Luscious pastries…

Why did I picked a chausson aux pommes 🍎

I was sitting right next to the waiter’s station and

I could see all the goodies
I’d missed - fresh strawberries 🍓 and towering whipped cream flashing by…

Don’t miss Carette’s famous signature hot chocolate ‘pour’

I read the decor was by Hubert de Givenchy, nephew of the designer, Monsieur de Givenchy. The Carette tea salons have an Art Deco-inspired atmosphere. Pink marble guss, chandeliers and columns, golden moldings and the large mirrors lend  a 30’s spirit.

Dress code is definitely casual

Even if decor is Art Déco.

I am in love ❤️ with their silver chocolate pots.

I walked 🚶‍♀️home down rue du pas du Mule

A street with more patisseries like Babka Zana,

And next door BRIGAT, at #6

I browsed inside

Of course…but it was easy to resist.

I’m going to do a CARETTE Paris Letter next 👍
❤️

Ww always go to Carette in Place des Vosges at least once each trip for chocolate chaud. I much prefer it over Angelina.

Love seeing Carette Place de Vosges, which I just remembered from a 2019 visit.

I have only been to the Trocadero Carette, everything was scrumptious! Their palmiers are the best! Your sketches and watercolor are beautiful…can’t wait to see your Carette Letter! 💌

  14. Is competition between patisseries fairly “fierce”or are there plenty of customers to go around? From the lines at Angelina it would seem the smaller ones are just hanging on. Hope that’s not the case.

Not at all. Angelina is on Rue de Rivoli in a HOT a tourist area.
Most natives don’t go to that branch or at all.
All the good pâtisseries 🥮 do Very well imo in Paris.
Certainly no one is suffering bc of Angelina.

  15. This looks like a lovely place to have hot chocolate, I’ve never been there. The chocolate pots look amazing.
Sometimes you need a light accompaniment to hot chocolate.
Love Tintin and Snowy at the end 😊

The chocolat chaud at Carette is amazing and, imo, a meal in itself. By the time the food arrives I'm always too full of hot chocolate and cream!
