Sketch of Fernand Leger exhibit
Monday afternoon I went to a preview of a joyous new exhibit

TOUS LÉGER - full of color, light & wit.

Even the tickets are 🎟️ fun!
Inside museum Luxembourg Leger exhibit
At Musée Luxembourg, 19, rue de Vaugirard, 75006 until July 20, 2025.
Facade of musee Luxembourg
Established in 1750, it was initially an
art museum located in the east wing of the Luxembourg Palace and in 1818 became the first museum of contemporary artThe museum was taken over by the French Ministry of Culture and the French Senate in 2000, when it began to be used for temporary exhibitions.
Keith Haring multi-figure painting
The exhibit includes other artists influenced by Léger: Niki de Saint-Phalle, Yves Klein, Martial Rayesse, Keith Haring.

The joyous fun is in the room decor.
This show was previously in Nice..the Riviera 🌴 No wonder.
Painted walls and benches in brilliant primary colors like children’s alphabet blocks.

The visitor’s silhouettes become part of the exhibit.
Black and white photo of Fernand Leger among artworks
Fernand Léger was born in Normandy in 1888, moved to Paris to study architecture, was influenced firstly by Cézanne.
He often fractured forms into geometrical parts.
Leger drawing of group of musiciansHe was an active  ‘Cubist’. Clearly he was pals with Picasso, Braque, Matisse and other artists of his time.
Photo of Leger in NY studio
He spent time in New York. I always thought he looked like a taxi 🚖 driver.
The juxtaposition of his work next to more contemporary artists makes an easy fit. Léger is timeless.
The Bicycle riders.
The museum’s gift shop continues the theme of
Primary colors and angular geometry.
Lots of fun things
To buy.
Outside I saw Léger’s bicycle 🚲
Wherever I look
I saw Léger in the most ordinary objects.
Yellow spring flowers
In these times Léger is a breath of fresh air.
I highly recommend this exhibit 👍

Thank you for another great post Carole. I too, did not know about Musée Luxembourg. Such a welcome burst of colour to usher in the first day of spring. And a great re-connection to Léger's body of work. All the best.
