Adventures in the Louvre part 2

All week I’ve been immersed in finishing the Louvre map

Remember the rough pencil ✏️ sketch?
Yesterday I got a brill idea 💡 Run up
To the Louvre
To ‘borrow’ some maps to include in the Paris letter!
Plus I found the perfect 👍 rubber stamp for the front of the envelope 💌 MONA LISA!
AND I’m including a page from Elaine Sciolino’s book 📕 ADVENTURES IN THE LOUVRE .
Some pages may have the odd doodle ✍️ Don’t have a heart ♥️ attack…my copy is a ‘galley’. Not a finished bound copy.
The other day, after Salon du Dessin, I was saying how preparatory sketches are important. Why did I re-draw this kid 4 Xs, then go with the man holding the map?
Small doodles and drawing sheet
Sometimes a sketch sheet looks more fun then the finished art…though the client may not think so.
Equestrian watercolor by Gericault
The Louvre has a wonderful art book 📕 store (up the escalator).
Who knew horses’s bums are so beautiful ?
Performing horse in a ring by Toulouse Lautrec
It’s a recent discovery. This watercolor is by Toulouse Lautrec.
Louvre horse bronzes and drawings
The equestrian sculptures made me want to visit Jeanne d’Arc! at Place des Pyramide.
Easter chocolate animals at Laduree.
But first I browsed Ladurée’s Easter goodies at the Louvre Carousel…the BEAR 🐻 came home with me ☺️
Easter chocolate rabbiits in shop window
By the way Maison du Chocolat has rabbits popping out of eggs FYI. Spring is definitely in the air 🌸
Gold statue of Jeanne d’Arc at place des Pyramide
Jeanne was looking glorious in the brilliant sun 🌞
I did a few doodles/sketches/esquisse/études. I wish I hadn’t gobbled up the marshmallow bear 🐻 just now ☺️
Sketches oh Jeanne d’Arc monument
Lately I’m seeing 👁️ horses 🐎 everywhere

If the book is yours, draw in it, write in it. It makes it truly yours. You are having a conversation.

Yay! So happy to see Adventures in the Louvre is available, here in the US, at Barnes & Noble. Can’t wait to read Elaine’s latest.

Loving your horse sketches! And that Bear is ALMOST too cute to eat! Bon dimanche!

The Jeanne d’Arc statue in front of the Regina is spectacular. Thankyou dear Carol for reminding me of one very sexy night there. I still have the soap dish but I didn’t take the plush bathrobe. Tu me manques beaucoup!

Musee Bourdelle has fabulous horse statues - if you haven’t been there it is a nice little oasis near Montparnasse
