But Bear and I changed out minds 🤔 We went through several renditions. After seeing The Department Store exhibit at MAD, I thought it would be fun to draw ✏️ 1860 Art Nouveau Paris stores.
Ha! 🙄 For 2 weeks I struggled & sweated…detailed architecture not really my cup of tea ☕️
Last Friday I had a sudden brain 🧠 storm. Why not do a pistachio-focused Paris letter?💡
I headed off to La Pistacherie at Pont d’Alma. What a divine place.
I flirted seriously with their éclat de pistache-covered ice cream cone🍦but refrained somehow.More pistache research 🔬 required at Ladurée on boulevard Champs-Elysées.
For further close study of pistache-flavored macarons. More tasting required bien sur…
I should return to square one - the original cherry blossom 🌸 idea 😊 The artistic 🎨 life is rarely a straight line.
At last off 🏃♀️ to la Poste 📮 with your Paris letter!
Spring wedding on the Paris Metro.
I would NOT have been able to walk away from that pistachio covered ice cream cone! You are not only talented but also very disciplined 😉
ReplyDeleteIt is not a question of discipline.
DeleteParis is a sea 🌊 of constant temptation. You have to become less impulsive living here. Being ADHD does not help. Or being a sugar-aholic before I moved here.
Your pistachio haul looks tasty, even if you didn’t get the ice cream which looks very nice. Love the letter you started and decided on. Creative decision making can be hard!
ReplyDeleteAhh…yes Kirra 😊 The twisty-turny road of the decision-making process with artwork 🎨
DeleteIt can drive you nuts 🌰 literally ☺️
I don’t know how you come up with fresh ideas month after month! Happy to see another letter in your ‘Eiffel Tower Collection’, it’s gorgeous! I have to have it!
ReplyDeleteYou introduced us to La Pistacherie a while back. It’s a fabulous place to sit, with an ice cream cone, and watch the world go by. I love the French obsession with pistachio.
Thank you for the link to ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’. IZ has a beautiful voice.
So glad you enjoyed 🎵 I discovered IZ by chance a few years ago and then again today listening to BBC Soul Music in the background

It helps I have you to bounce ⚽️ letter ideas off of BONNIE ☺️ 🌸
Deleteohhhh so pretty!!! Love it 🌸🌸🌸💕💕 beautiful details too like the bear♥️ Solli
ReplyDeleteBut you incorporated a bit of pistachio in that bench. Well, maybe not quite pistachio, but a bit. And it's lovely in every way.
ReplyDeleteHello Carol, The movie “Fifty First Dates” used the Israel Kamakawiwo’ole rendition of “Over the Rainbow “ as one of its’ soundtracks. I remember thinking how beautiful his performance of this song truly was while watching the movie. It was the first time I heard this musical version of this song. His particular way of performing the song was so fitting for the theme and setting of the movie.
ReplyDeleteA Unique and fabulous singer
DeleteThe video has over a billion hits
DeleteOoh…I wish there was a jigsaw puzzle of that cherry blossom image!
ReplyDeleteI love how you pick the themes..often by colour….or flavour….charmant. I first got hooked on a limon edition. 🍋
ReplyDeleteTarte au citron 🍋?
DeleteAh yes…citron. / jeune 💛
DeletePistachio is lovely and tasty. I always buy pistachio yogurt from Carrefour supermarché every time I go to Paris. Love it. Thanks for a wonderful haul of pictures. Love, Maribel
ReplyDeleteThat sounds yummy Do you remember the brand?
DeleteCARREFOUR has a petit pot de Dessert crème pistache…
LMAO.
ReplyDeleteI would never notice anything but that ice cream cone. My eyes would not have moved for a mile. Omg that is heaven on a cone. Ynne
I have never seen such a delicious looking ice cream cone..next time you are there please do not resist! We have pistachios in bulk in shells and opened where I shop in California. Grown in the Central Valley these days, pistachios are curious with red seeds at the tips of the branches in clusters. They are always tempting; these bins are the end of control with all kinds of nut flavors and variations. Love the specialty shops in Paris which never disappoint.
ReplyDeleteOK I will 🍦
DeleteI think they are drups…not nuts
You’re lucky to have them growing so close by. They must be more tasty than shipped pistache from Iran & Italy.
You are much admired by your readers!!! Including me. AWA
ReplyDeleteHi Carol, Loved the pistachio themed post and I especially appreciated the photo of the bride and groom, both sporting identical trainers on the metro.
ReplyDeleteThank you Donna ❤️
DeleteSo I should have gone with the Pistache letter?
The couple have matching Comme des Garçon baskets. Cindy informed me 🙏
Carol, This month's letter is beautiful as always. Is there anyway to order it without the fold? Or as an original watercolor? Looking for a 25th wedding anniversary present. You have already done several commissioned pieces for my husband over the years. Merci
ReplyDeleteIf you order 3 letters at once, it will be sent out flat with tracking 👏
DeleteThe original art took way too long to complete
Where in Pennsylvania are you from?
ReplyDeletePhiladelphia
DeleteThis Bon Primtemps drawing is absolutely one of your BEST!!! I Love it!!!
