Its absolutely sensational and the highlight of my days!! I was wondering if you could do a post on the typical French girls apartment. In the movies it always looks very thrown together, simple and chic. I know you must have insight on this!!!! That would be fantastic.

At first I thought no. But after careful reconsideration, I decided yes! I should show you that French girls are not so casual. In fact the opposite.This is the lovely clear entryway where I was allowed to drop my bag 💼 on arrival.

French Girl's Rouge et Noir Cuisine

I mentioned to Fr Girl.

That there was definitely a rouge et noir/red and black theme in her cuisine/kitchen.
French Girl responded,"Absolutement PAS!"
Never mind. I bought the little red and black Ladybug kitchen timer from PYLONES and added it to the shelf with the other red and black items.

Red curtains hang in the kitchen window.

Plus a red with black striped dish towel. Hmm... What do you think? Am I crazy seeing lots of red and black here? I felt compelled to add a red kitchen mitt from Boutique Maille.

It's no surprise a Fr girl would decorate her kitchen in red and black. Le rouge et le noir training starts early in la pousette.

And evolves to grown-up Parisians daily sitting in red and black cafes.

Probably walking there in RED shoes.

Whilst wearing red and black jewelry.

Their politicians deck themselves out likewise.

Well sophistication must start early don't you think?
And Paris is such a sophisticated town non?

There seems to be a dominent propensity to line things up in rows in Paris. I've mentioned before this obsession with lining things up in row upon row. True, there is an inherent geometrie you can't escape in Paris thanks very much to Baron Haussmann's austere archetecture.

Granted, if you're going to sit down at most cafes the seats will be in a row.

But Parisien cafes do tend to line them up like soldiers facing the rue.

Even Paris dogs, whether leashed or unleashed adhere to the strict rules of promenading in rows...

I spotted these Frenchie scooters out the window coasting along in single file.

It's only natural that macarons would be lined up in neat rows.

Especially a piece montee.

You wouldn't want to mess up your rows would you?

These tubes of Jean-Paul Hevin tartiner (flavored caramel-orange-ginger!) were at the salon du chocolat and I could not resist.

Not only is the design outstanding - miam-miam

And the taste! Dangerously yummy.

This poster of row upon row also caught my eye in the Metro.

So what does any of this have to do with French Girl's appartment you ask?

I noticed that propensity to line things up in rows that I had completely missed before...

A row of farm buckets lined up in the bathroom.

Had French Girl been to a farm recently I wondered?

And a milk bucket hanging in the kitchen..?

I had to ask, "been farming of late peut-etre Fr. Girl?"

"Non, I just liked the way they look..."

"Oh..."

I will be busy hanging my exhibit this morning at the Alliance Francaise de Philadelphie once I hightail it out of here.

Perhaps that's why I have row upon rows on ze brain today.

I hope to see PBers tonight at the opening (6:30-8:30)

And I hope French Girl doesn't mind this discrete petite invasion into her private lair - too adorable to miss non?

At first I thought no. But after careful reconsideration, I decided yes! I should show you that French girls are not so "thrown together" or casual. In fact quite the opposite. Especially now you've seen what a hopeless slob I am. The contrast is riveting. This is the entry way where I was to drop my bag upon arrival.
