Mélodies Graphiques

I’ve been trying to get to melodies graphiques all week. I finally made it yesterday.

It’s on 10, rue du Pont Louis-Phillippe, 75004

Mélodies Graphiques

Yesterday I ran to marché Baudoyer on rue Saint Antoine to buy a wreathe. I want my studio to smell like a pine forest.

For some reason French Noël trees do not smell piney. Why? Meredith Mullens bought a wreathe and said her place was a veritable forest. But no luck at the marché. I’ll keep looking.

On the way home a stop in Merveille de Fred. Remember when there were only meringues in Paris and NO macarons? I still love meringues and got two(1,50€ each). Munch, munch.

I continued down to 10, rue du Pont Louis-Philippe, a street loaded with treasure shops.

None more delightful than papeterie Melodies Graphiques

An Aladin’s cave of treasures.

I don’t know...

If they ship internationally.

But you can try. Bonne chance 🙏

I peeked inside.

What if I could put a wax stamp on your Paris Letters 💌? How divine, but I don’t think my envelopes are sturdy enough..are they?

Meet adorable Osia. She went shopping today at Chanel. Dogs and cats are flocking. Are the Winter Sales on? The Paris grey day view from bus 72 coming home. Is there a Parisian shop you’d like me to visit if I can? Please be good and stay safe dear PBers 🙏🐻❤️

Papeterie map & Pets in Paris Portraits

This is an alert to lets those waiting for their Paris mail 📮 to arrive...
The September papeterie map shipped out today!
Who doesn't love Paris papeterie (stationary) shops?
You'd have to be mad not to love ❤️ them.
A yellow favorite
In the 6th arron.
Filled with such colorful goodies.
Color themes that can break your heart ❤️ so beautiful.
Be like Marie-Antoinette and write ✍️ with a Paris plume
Or plume de ma tante. You should have the latest Paris map in your letter box shortly. Map makers are organized people as I found out the hard way.
On the other hand (one wants to say paw..) all the big dogs in Dieppe reminded me that I miss painting their portraits.
Little dogs too barked a few times.
Then a sign came to me enroute to the pool the other morning. OK I know a duck is coming out of the back of his neck but this looks alot
Like my darling Rudi...non?
And you have been sending requests.
Painting your pets in Paris has always been a delight
So why not do them again. You can order directly in my Etsy shop.
S'il vous plait include tails and paws in your reference photos. Most helpful. The more photos the better and tell me the name of your pet. It helps.
Thanks for reading Parisbreakfast!
If you like this post and want to support it, buy my Paris letters and watercolors or forward this to someone who might enjoy it. Cheers

Cahier d'Ecriture

I'm always on the lookout for examples of French cursive to bring home.

I love this postcard by illustrator Claire Franek.

My attempts at her delightful curvy handwriting, ahem

 More Fr cursive practice.
Lurve the handwriting on Chez L'Amie Jean's biz card - easy to bring home.

Big fruitbox with nice writing - not easy to bring home.

Adorable bonbon/candy jar - too cumbersome to bring home.

Page ripped from Lenotre's catalog - easy to bring home. Shhh-they keep them by the cash register.

I Love the handwriting on Michel et Augustin's yogurts. There was a promotion at La Grande Epicerie and I happened to sit at a communal table where Michel et Augustin were eating lunch. I was dying to say I LOVE your packaging, but the cat got my tongue.
Go figure.

You can find plenty kid's how-to-write French cursive on Amazon.fr and FNAC for kids #19 rue Vavin.

 I bought this cahier/notebook at L'Ecritoire but it's a counting book.

An important ardoise/blackboard

Announces gouter/snacktime 3-6pm
I won't forget this handwriting in Paris.

French Handwriting

When you see this guess where you are?
In France of course. What if blackboards/ardoise were outlawed, would we stop going to France? Maybe...
French handwriting on a bebe's bib/bavoir is perfect.
'Interdit de me gronder'/ it's forbidden to scold me.
Not just for bebesChanel combines handwriting and Deco typographie
It's de rigueur for a French designer to use his signature as his brand logo.
 Christian Lacroix aussi...
Hermes is not too high and mighty to use handwriting on their restoration signs.
A handwritten script neon brasserie sign.
There are many writing supply stores in Paris:
Melodie Graphic 10, rue Pont Louis-Philippe 75004
L'Ecritiore 61, rue Saint-Martin 75004
Calligrane 6, rue Pont Louis-Philippe 75004
Papier+ 9, rue PontLouis-Philippe
Handwriting on a French ribbon - parfait!
Faux/fake French handwriting on a chocolate chicken porte-etiquette/label is still yummy looking. Real handwriting looks just fine on a big tarte fine au peche. Is there any noticible handwriting in New York? Not that I'm aware. In Paris it's a different histoire/story.We would miss it muchly.
