Bouillion Julien

I Wednesday night I met up with some friends of Parisbreakfast
For dinner 🍽️ at Bouillon Julien

At 16 rue Faubourg Saint-Denis in the 10th arrondissement.

It was my suggestion actually.
The decor is in the Nancy School of Art Nouveau.
In other words  the interior is magnificent.
Their motto is, ‘Here everything is beautiful, good and not expensive .‘ All absolutely true 👍
The prices on the menu seem not to have changed since I was here in 2020!
The bouillons began outside marchés like Les Halles.
With ladies cooking on the spot and serving up ample bowls 🥣 of hot soup made from leftover vegetables & butcher bones from the market.
At a certain point these soupers came indoors serving all the workers & shoppers and aptly named ‘Bouillons’.
Julien is one of the few bouillons still serving this authentic, hearty beef bouillon (9,90)
Bouillons have had a resurgence of late. Pigalle is the newest. What’s not to love ❤️ Hearty, ample food at reasonable prices in stunning decor. I even created a Paris Bouillon Map.
What we ate. My salmon choucroute lower right was delicious (14€).
I told the girls NOT to get the steak/Frits with shallots. Warning it would be tough and chewy.
I was wrong. It was tender and delicious. I ate their leftovers for breakfast in a sandwich 🥪 next day!
Desserts were to be expected
