Le Nemours, Fondation Cartier

 

Yesterday Bonnie emailed, “Come have breakfast with us at Cafe Le Nemours at 8:30”

My swim 🏊 bag went back in the closet immediately & I ran 🏃‍♂️ out the door.

Le Nemours is a classic Parisian Brasserie near the entrance to Palais Royal. 

Have you been?

Their breakfast menu…

Not an egg 🥚 place per se. 

Then the rains ☔️ came.

And didn’t stop. 

On and off all day. Classic Paris weather 🌧️ 

I sat in their apartment window 

And doodled ✍️ nonstop.

I was reminded of that Cartier-Bresson photograph of the man running in the rain with his shadow.

I was too high up and far away to capture anything like Cartier-Bresson’s famous ‘decisive moments’ type of shot.

Still…it’s always fun to try.

I ran to get a quick bite 

At Japanese IRASSHAI, a fun, quick, pas cher but tasty place on 40, rue du Louvre, 75001. There are 2 restaurants. Go to the one in the back if you prefer not to wait. Who doesn’t?

Then I headed to the newly opened Fondation Cartier.just across from the Louvre and formerly headquarters for a melange of tired antiques dealers shops. 

At 2 Place du Palais-Royal.

Open daily from 11am to 8 am, except on Mondays.

Open late on Tuesdays till 10 pm.

This huge space was redesigned by architect, Jean Nouvel.

There are multiple levels.

But you can experience the artworks by looking up 

Or down. 

Or simply straight ahead.

Altogether 

A fun 

Experience.

Multi-lingual guides answer questions and lead small groups around - very casual.

The main floor is at street level, bringing outsiders inside.

I sat down and doodled passerbys.

Some people outside were looking in at us!

By the time I left there was a line,

But at least the rain had stopped…for a while.
