Pôle international du Cheval Longines – Deauville + Lobster 🦞

On ETSY
The French are always mad about flags flying

Including Monet when he visited Trouville-sur-mer.
Last Thursday I ran 🏃‍♂️ to see the LONGINES Deauville Jump.
I grabbed a flyer the previous weekend. It was on for 4 days and free so why not?
The #112 jitney is next to the train station.
There were tons of international flags representing the countries competing just like at LONGINES Eiffel Jumping.
A boardwalk surrounds thé jumping 🐎 ring
Loaded with shops full of  horsy equipment and paraphernalia
including Hermès
Opening day was quite busy, even Yosemite showed up.
A kiddie waving a Normandie flag..
What was unique about LONGINES Deauville
Was you could get
Really close
To the jumping!
A spectacular experience I never had at any other jumping event,
Usually you’re sitting way back in the stands
After a couple hours in hot sun 🌞 I headed back to Trouville for some lunch. Fortunately the little jitney showed up 🙏to take me back 🤸‍♂️
I remembered seeing ready-cooked lobster 🦞 for 30€ the previous weekend ❤️❤️❤️
You pay an extra 5€ & they prepare it for you and you can sit there cracking claws happily.
It’s nothing like eating Maine lobster 🦞
Fresh out of the steaming pot. I did miss the corn 🌽 on the cob though…
But still yummy.
A very jolly time comme d’habitude in Trouville/Deauville.

  1. Carol, what beautiful summer days you’ve been showing us! Thank you. Spouse and I have had a very stressful summer with no vacay, and you bring such beautiful evocative images and accounts of your seaside days. ❤️ I love the juxtaposition of your seaside view watercolor and Monet’s Trouville painting.

Thank you Margie ❤️ The beach 🏖️ in any form is a good escape from stress. I tried to get back this weekend but booked solid in advance. Those August people. I decided to go to SAUMUR for the day (no beach in the Loire). Bonne chance Margie

Wonderful post Carol. Loved seeing your photos of the horse jumping up close. Beautiful. I also appreciate fresh lobster and your painting of Trouville is lovely along with Monet's painting.-Suzanne P.

Check out Longines Gavin, but there are regular jumping events in Fontainebleau which is fairly close by…I just haven’t made it yet. Spring is a busy time at the races 🏇 in Paris.
