Yesterday I thought I was headed to 🐎the races but I ended up at DAVID HOCKNEY 25 at FONDATION LOUIS VUITTON. Go figure. Instead I hopped back on the bus, went 1 stop, & a nice walk through the woods. You can still get lost in Paris after 12 years.
Even the ticket is a keeper.
The show focuses on Hockney’s last 25 years.
Hockney is a master of color,
Especially GREEN 🥬 with it’s compliment RED 🍅
Intermittently there are pictures of Hockney at work.
Hockney sketches ✏️ out everything ahead in an accordion Moleskine sketchbook.
Hockney quoting Picasso said,”give me a museum and I’ll fill it”.
The Hockney is a beautiful show well worth the struggle to get there. Alert - their own shuttle 🚌 (which you pay for. It used to be free) is a Very bumpy ride. I recommend taking Metro #1 to Sablons. Then walk 14+ minutes rather than having your guts unravel on that jitney thing. Really M. Arnaud 😬
I mentioned walking through the woods 🌳
Artists 🎨 are allowed at Société d’Équitation de Paris 👏
That exhibition looks absolutely glorious! Lovely horses too. Thanks for all the photos.
ReplyDeleteThe Hockney exhibit looks fabulous! I really enjoy his art. Wonderful photos as always. -Suzanne P.
ReplyDeleteThank you ❤️
DeleteThis was fabulous. Lynne
ReplyDeleteHockney is really astonishing when you see his work in person, isn't it! There was an exhibition a few years ago at the Royal Academy in London, and I was absolutely blown away by it!
ReplyDeleteI LOVED the RA show. My link:

What wonderful Hockney landscapes. A lovely Easter to you.
ReplyDeleteYes I was enthralled and tended to focus on his landscapes more than other subjects…
DeleteI am so envious! If that show were here in Boston, Mass., you wouldn't be able to get near it, it would be so crowded.
ReplyDeleteIt was fairly crowded. The rooms are Very spacious.
DeleteBonjour Carol
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful lead in to the Exhibit a nice walk through the woods and visiting the stable residents 🐴 🐎
Love the colors and subject of Hockeys art 🖼️
Great exhibit and as always love the wonderful photos of your adventures
Merci Beaucoup
Linda S
Thanks Linda S. 🥰
DeleteThat exhibit looks marvelous and doesn't look too crowded. How fun for you to find horses along the way - better (or more personal) than the races.
ReplyDeleteSome rooms were more crowded than others - why my shots are a bit off Suki, but it was not intolerable.
DeleteMy daughter used to ride at those stables. Would love you to do some more sketches there. Very nice horses!
ReplyDeleteJulia
Julia, for sure I will be going back to Société d’Équitation de Paris! 😊
DeleteLooks like a fabulous exhibit, Carol, but perhaps even better was your visit with Jack. Wonderful! ❤️
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the trip!
ReplyDeleteI am a friend of Nancy Brittle.❤️
Wonderful blog as always! L😍VE what you did with the ticket!! Very Dewey-Hockney-esk!! Lots of ❤️ from 🇨🇦
ReplyDeleteAw…thanks Nicole 😊
DeleteVery perceptive of you ❤️🐎
A bar near my house in Atlanta,Ga. posts a joke each week on its outdoor sign.
ReplyDeleteThis week the sign reads "Do race horses slow up when they see police horses?" Seems appropriate for your latest adventures!
Hahaha 🐎🐎🐎
DeleteBeautiful
ReplyDeleteCarol,
ReplyDeleteI love that you provide the bus routes and that you are able to sniff out horses in the general area on your outings. Can you tell me about the pen David Hockney is using in the image where he appears to be drawing lines of grass that seem to fade to a lighter color? I don’t see a pot in ink, but the tip has a lot of green at the ‘nib’ end and the fade in color suggests he is running out of ink. Are these hand made?
Great post as always. Thanks.
What a glorious treat. Would love to see that exhibit. Always enjoy your adventures & especially your art. Thank you & wishing you a very Happy Easter.🐣🐇 ❣️
