Rouge Gorge & Watercolor Sale

 

Supposedly there are many robins in France but I have yet to see any (along with squirrels/l’ésquirul) 

BHV was supposed to have this felt robin but when I went in they said I would have to order it & come back the next day to pick it up. Of course I never did & that was months ago…

Now I see home supplier, Leroy Merlin has the same robin in garden decor. I am going today to get my robin 👍

So what is it with this robin fixation. Another fixation along with shiny bright objects and many others?

I thought a robin with a cherry 🍒 would be a nice thing to add to the teacup watercolors, even if you rarely see a robin in Paris 😳 

Remember the PUT A BIRD ON IT video from Portlandia?

It’s nice to know I’m not alone in a my put a bird on it fixation ☺️ A few of the 300+ bird pictures I’ve taken or saved. I bought that wooden flying seagull…long gone now.

Other birds I’ve collected now long gone…

Except for Yellow Bird, now with a broken foot 🦶 a New York bird who came along to Paris.

More painted birds when I was in my Fauchon rose petal tea period.

At one point I thought of doing a Birds of Paris map, which I’m certain no one else would be interested in. Living next to the Seine you see a lot of different birds: mallards 🦆, swans 🦢 seagulls, the Paris pigeon.

And a lot of very big crows. This one was spotted resting in a planter in the 16eme. 

Almost all le corbeau or crows in Paris are tagged. They are keeping tabs on them? I rarely saw crows in New York…

    Bonjour! I found the video quite amusing as Portland was my hometown (I don't claim it anymore). Thankfully, I now live at the beautiful Oregon Coast. It was so funny to see this video here.

    Living in New England we have our fair share of robins…and squirrels. For a few years our favorite, ‘Goober’, would scratch and peer in at the glass doors when she wanted a peanut!

    For an up close and personal tête à tête with Paris squirrels take a seat in a quiet corner of Jardin du Luxembourg or Jardin des Plantes. Bring peanuts!

    Robins and cherries together...nice. Run and get that Robin! I think your Fauchon rose petal tea period water colors are so pretty. Since I moved to my new "digs" I don't see any Robins or my favorite Cardinals. I did plant flowers to encourage humming birds and they do stop by.

    Oh how I love Portlandia. I have shared that video so many times. It is a joke among my art friends and family…if you put a bird on it, it will sell! And there is truth in it! Is that photo of Notre Dame current showing the stage of reconstruction at present? I love your tea cups, always have. Love the french expression, “petit a petit l’oiseau fait son nid” and the lovely poem by Jacques Prevert “Es que les oiseaux se cachent pour mourir,” that my daughter learned in l’ecole primaire when she was 6 or 7 (now 41!)

      The Notre Dame photo was from 2019…before they brought in all the big construction gear.
      “Petit à petit l’oiseau fait son nid”
      Little by little the bird makes her nest (?)

    Absolutely love your Robin with cherries! I have a love of Robins, but it is easily explained. My maiden name is Robin. The family originally came from France (in the 1700s), no less! We have them in our yard here in Washington state and I love to watch them catching worms. They love when the sprinklers are going. I guess it makes the worms wiggle and they catch them easier.

    It's possible you're seeing robins and just don't know it. There is a variety named European Robin which looks quite different from our American robin. Google Images is full of them.

    Love this bird post. I'm sure I've seen squirrels in Luxembourg or Monceau. We have lots of crows here-they scream at you when you go out of the house like they own the place.
