Yesterday I took a break from arm-wrestling the September Paris Map to go Uptown…yes I know it’s 30 Septembre, but I’ve been arm wrestling 🤼♀️ all week with Ines…
It’s PWF (Paris Fashion Week). I hate missing out on what’s going on. Dior is showing bubble skirts evidently…
Think Pink in fashion bookstore Galignani’s window with a beautiful vintage Cardin wool coat. They are featuring a new Pierre Cardin book.
Next door in Angelina’s window more pink to support the fight against breast cancer month. “Rosalie” is a symbolical (breast-shaped) pastry mixing almond crunch, caramel, hazelnut crémeux, and a tender praline heart to feel like a cuddle (Angelina’s words not mine).
Hot Pink seen in the street crossing rue de Castiglioni—a wacky combo of shoe styles. Take your pick.
A bunch of design students hanging out at the palace hotels seems the way to go. Just a few years back you could find out where the shows were online and go and gawp. Now it’s much harder. If you know please do tell🙏
The next best thing is to follow Loic Prigent on Youtube.
The black limos, with blackened windows, almost military-like, roll up to pickup/dropoff celebs and ordinary people at the 5 ⭐️ hotels.
Its the luck of the draw if you’ll see someone interesting. Just go walking around town
And be ready to shoot.
The windows are good on rue Saint Honoré like at Paule Ka, master of the French bow🎀.
Some quickie fashion sketches I did at a YSL exhibit a while back. I need to do this again…
My objective going uptown was a small Andy Warhol Paris photo exhibit at Gagosian. Andy got the celeb thing rolling.
Look at a young VERSACE (not Karl) lower right. Can you name the others? Seen in the street, a little chocolate box for your eye lids.
Yum Yum. Wouldn’t you love ❤️ some Paris mail 💌 in your mailbox📫? Have a Bonnne Samdi dear Pbers
Dear Carol. Those shoes always so uncomfortable. I am sure I would break my ankle if I tried to walk around in them..particularly on those narrow and cobblestone streets in Paris and other places in France. I have a pair of 'traveling' shoes that are sturdy and useful for Winter there...sort of stylish loafers. The one thing that always amazes me is the beautiful, elegant , timeless fashion one can find in France; even the smaller towns have gorgeous arrangements in the windows. If you find something it must be purchased because it's not going to be here in the States by any means. I am thinking of a black and white coat my daughter considered but decided not to buy. Although a garment may be pricey in Maje or similar stores it will be a forever piece.
ReplyDeletePracticality is never an issue. Newness is.
DeleteI've often wondered who actually wears that fashion and those shoes are truly laughable.
ReplyDeleteStars, celebrities enough to keep them in business, though the signature perfumes bring in the real dough.
DeleteWhat Life you ADD!!! hmmm, "xxx" with the energy, curiosity, enthusiasm of a 20 year old, BUT with the wisdom and talent of an "xxx" year old!!! Thank you!!!
ReplyDeleteSO GLAD YOU ARE LIVING AND THRIVING IN PARIS!! Carla
Paris is more fun for me than NYC ever was
DeleteI totally AGREE - CAROL - I feel the same way! Thank you for bringing a little excitement today about PFW!!! I shared with my french classmates many of your street scenes and window displays!!! You bring on oodles of energy, curiosity and enthusiasm for all of your readers. I am smiling from ear to ear as I wrote that!
DeleteAwww…thanks so much Mary in Oregon ❤️❤️❤️😊
DeleteIsn't that a young Gianni Versace? And of course Giorgio Armani, Valentino...but I've drawn a blank re the tall guy! He reminds me of Gianni Agnelli, but it can't be him because he's a car person, not a fashion designer!
ReplyDeleteSo close and yet so far…GIVENCHY ! Have I taught u nuttin’? Otherwise you did swell 👏👏it is Armani not Gianni but hey they’re both Italian
DeleteThat is definitely Versace in the lower right, not Lagerfeld.
DeleteYou are correct. I will fix. Thank you. They both had similar beards. Versace was classier looking. Andy Warhol, Polaroid Portrait of Gianni Versace (1980) | Artsy

Visiting from New York, and saw the new permanent Christian Dior exhibit during Fashion Week... Some of the attendees' outfits were as eye-catching as the displays.
ReplyDeleteOh very good idea to go there now just to see them! Très merci 👏
DeleteI saw the same amazing couple! On Thursday at Taillevent her skirt was different: very short, navy blue with red and yellow underskirts. I was attracted by her fascinator and makeup. She is quite a bit older than she first appears. What a treat to find her in your latest PB! Cornelia
ReplyDeleteUmm…you were at Taillevant…OK. very nice choice Cornie 👏👏 Yes they looked about a 100 years old to me too
DeleteWe were there last week and stumbled on the YSL show at the Tracadero! They were just setting up, but even so, what fun!!
ReplyDeleteCarol, your posts are the highlight of my weeks, the only fun thing coming my way in this crazy world. Thank you. 💕🌷💕 Judy Jennings
ReplyDeleteSo playful and pretty feminine outfits. Anabel
ReplyDeleteI see that pink suit in the window and I immediately think Umbridge Chic.

DeletePlease god, no bubble skirts!!!! AWC
ReplyDeleteClothing that makes it impossible for women to walk and move properly it’s just another way of keeping us down.
DeleteThe woman with the tall gentleman looks like Diane Von Furstenburg? I may be totally wrong... Love those vintage photos...took my memory for a spin. And of course, I love your posts! Living in Hawaii, I feel even further from Paris! It seems like another world now. Thank you for bringing her to me and reminding me of my love for that beautiful city!
ReplyDeleteNo Way it is Diane VF..she would be wearing her signature wrap dress and inside a limo
DeleteWant to trade places for a bit? House trade? I have not been to .Hawaii 😢 Waikiki Letters anyone?
DeleteOoooh I adore all those shoes! I made a vow when I was 17 - no boring shoes. Even if they *had* to be practical. Almost 40 years later still sticking it to it. 😁
ReplyDeleteAnd I LOVE that red dress. Oh. So. Much. She is fabulous. And he’s not bad either. 😉
No boring shoes how Wonderful! I wish i could make the same vow but I have flat feet :(( Bonjour tristesse (and I was a shoe designer)
