Bye bye NYC !
That garbage truck is taking away much of my ex-stuff.

I LOVE SAS! Much roomier than AF - 3 seats to stretch out and snooze. And you arrive in the gorgeous Copenhagen fab airport! Yay
I met darling Swedish mom taking her 10 year old on her 1st trip to Paris.
They helped me with my bags.
This is a SCULPTURE at CDG not my bags.
Roissy bus to l'Etoile.
The taxi stand is across the street from the Roissy bus stop at Etoile, but this terrific taxi driver came across the street and schlepped all my bags to his car. No way could I have done it. Tears almost started rolling.
Start unpacking for 30 minutes?
Or run out and hear my fav musicians in the Metro playing Russian tunes.
To the Carrousel du Louvre for
The salon du livre culinaire (more to come)
Home to eat my favorite soups de ravioli de crevettes. MIAM!
I brought my Tempurpedic travel mattress to Paris. I think it froze enroute. Never mind..a bit of New York in Paris.
BON NUIT!

BON NUIT!
I've done things like this and it's scary and exhausting especially lugging cases.
ReplyDeleteI'm so pleased that you have decided to take the plunge. Life is for living.
Bon courage!
Susan
Big merci Susan

Tears got into my eyes while reading this post, Carol!
ReplyDeleteI feel so exquisitely happy for you, to have finally landed where you belong, in the City of Light!
All the best,

Love your post title, Carol. "Hier" where you belong. x
DeleteGlad you travelled in style and had the pleasure of the lovely Danish people at CPH airport, and then treated as royalty by your French taxi driver. I hope you gave him a tip :-) Enjoy your new life, it won't be long before you'll be classed as a Parisienne....
ReplyDeleteBarbara
Oh did you move to Paris? Eek. How fantastic. And is that really your luggage? Wow. I'm certainly looking forward to hearing more about the salon du livre culinaire - that sounds exactly like my sort of event.

ReplyDeleteBrava Carol! Wonderful news you've made the plunge. So do we get to hear about the chocolate at salon du livre culinaire :) Cara www.parisisformurder.com
ReplyDeleteAs I sit here on a frosty morning in the boonies drinking my morning coffee, I just had to stop and say how much I'm enjoying your website. I take a little trip away from the mundane everytime I stop by here! I'm looking forward to all your revelations and discoveries as you settle in. How exciting to grab life like this!
ReplyDeleteI'm so thrilled for you!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the move! Envy!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was in Paris last May I think I caught your Russian musicians on video...they were fantastic and the tunnels gave wonderful acoustics. In my two weeks there one of my favorite things was riding the Metro and finding new music.
(I am not a skilled video person and this was a first attempt with my iPhone.) I had to immediately go watch it this morning and once again I wish I was there...

Fabulous--it makes me smile to see you in your element, Carol. Way to go! Soak it all up like the sponge you are...xo
ReplyDeleteI AM a sponge Sue! U nailed me. Pray that this sponge's waistline does not expand out like it did in January ahem...
DeleteI have a vision of Mary Tyler Moore throwing her hat up in the air yelling I DID IT. Well, not sure she said that but YOU DID DO IT!! CONGRATS!! Your place looks nice and comfy!
ReplyDeleteCarol,
ReplyDeleteThis is so great to read that you are in your dream. It is infectious in so positive a way.
I must say this is some adventure you are on. Happy settling in to your new apartment. Congratulations, for sure, and ENJOY!
ReplyDeleteOMG! You've really done it! OMG! I think I was dreaming about something v. similar last nite! Bravo ma fille!
ReplyDeleteOh, yay!! You're there! I'm so happy for you.
ReplyDeleteI've been following you for years and would love to know what you've decided to do. Obviously you will be living in Paris now. For a trial, semi-permanent, forever? Did you find a furnished apartment? I lived there a decade ago for two years and miss Paris so much. You've given me the ability (vicariously) to go back with you. Why did I not take many pictures when I lived there?! So happy for you.
ReplyDeleteBonne chance!!
Katherine
Oh how exciting! The picture of your luggage made me laugh. They were stacked like many of the macarons you paint. I'm happy to see that you had help! Congratulations :)
ReplyDeleteWhoops Jen!
DeleteThat is a sculpture in CDG not mine though mine was pretty bad considering I usually take just a matchbox full of stuff...
I did think for a second that was your baggage at CDG - but no, your stuff has been spirited away by the garbage truck and you are light and free as a bird and the bravest of women! Well done, I'm so full of admiration and wish you the very BEST xxx
ReplyDeleteI have always known that one day you would stay in Paris for good:)) Best of luck, Carol, Evelina
ReplyDelete... major congrats .. may you enjoy every minute, however long it may be ...
ReplyDeleteLucky you! so happy you are " enfin à la maison" ! As usual, I look forward to your ( & Bear
ReplyDeleteI don't know why but not all of my message went through! Just wanted to say look forward to yours &Bear's adventures as you settle into your new life!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment on my blog Carolg! When I grow up I want to be the person who changes all the posters in the Paris Metro! Let me know if there are any openings.
ReplyDeleteAnd I was thinking what backbreaking work! Still my dream is to write the menus in chalk on the ardoises in Paris.
DeleteGo figure ;))
I thought my years installing art bulletin boards in my classroom gave me great qualifications for the Metro job. You, with your excellent skill at watercolor, will rock the ardoises! (I only know the word ardoises because on the recommendation of Paris Breakfasts Blog we visited Le Bon Bon au Palais and when it came time to translate the 1951 rules of what is forbidden to students that Georges has framed by his door we really puzzled over the word. Please remember not to erase your mistakes by spitting or licking the ardoise!!
DeleteA tempurpedic travel mattress? That sounds like a must have! Love that oriental rug beneath it, too!
ReplyDeleteI've been sleeping on one for ages on the floor.
DeleteGreat for my back so I thought why not bring it to Paris?
Carol, it is so great to read your post from Paris. This one is different from all the prior arrival reports.
ReplyDeleteI am very curious to find the next post and all those after that. Best wishes on this new chapter!
xo
Wow...you've gone and done it! What an inspiration you continue to be. Best of luck to you "a Paris".
ReplyDeleteOh you lucky woman!!! I could not be any happier for you. It is as though all is right in the world to find you in Paris with no return flight! I eagerly await your stories on becoming one with the city. xo
ReplyDeleteAdding my BIG Congrats!! And can't wait to join the expat list asap...
ReplyDeleteBTW, CG if you get an urge one day to apt swap Paris>Amsterdam....I'll put you in touch with my son. He went to grad school in Paris became a citizen...off to Holland for work but he & the GF are back often. Recently 3 weeks in Brittany... She has a phd in museum science technology... kind of like vous! Your own museum here on PB!
Looking forward to reading all about your new life in Paris.Be sure to buy your shopping basket at Bazar des Ecoles on Rue des Ecoles in the 5th. Great market nearby on Place

That is so cool! When you said you were moving, I really didn't think you would completely pull the trigger! Great thing are in store for you in this new chapter! Do you know David Lebovitz the American chef living in Paris? I follow his blog, and he seems like he might be a good friend to have in Paris! Jacklyn
