Piece Montee

This piece montee was in Pierre Herme's rue Bonaparte shop...
Piece Montee de macarons, original art, 5.5" x 7.5"

I am ever obsessed with these tall stacks of macarons and so fun to paint! I am soooo tempted to invest in one of these strictly for research of course. I love this logo for the French Bakery association...I love the way you see these all over Paris decorating whatever like Xmas trees - here at Le Valentin...At the chateau...
Lenotre has made their piece montee into a twirly tall tower...
Saduharu Aoki's real tree of macarons at last year's Salon du Chocolat...
Wouldn't it be fun if these were giant macarons climbing up the sides of the Eiffel Tower and it was for REAL...say for Macaron Day in Paris?
This is Sophia's tower of carmalized macarons...
She created this mini tea salon...dreamy non?

Bonjour Macarons!

Afternoon Macaron Tea, original watercolor
A few days ago, when I gave the lesson on Macaron Mathematics , I got a challenging request.
c_fluffy said:Gorsh... that's a lot of Pierre Herme mini macs. Can we see all your miniature macs piled together?
Well Fluffy, this post is for you. I am proud to admit I've got 66 mini macarons.
Hand made by Marie-Paule MaurinI probably have the most mini macarons ON THE PLANET.Not that I have ever eaten 66 REAL macarons. well not at one sitting. I was toying with the idea of creating one of these towers of power with my minis. Hmmm...should I or shouldn't I? Now for some REAL macarons and from Pierre Herme too.Remember how I was telling you his macarons are "FAT"?

The picture says it best. I've never gone in much for the big individual or grand macaron (note at 3.20 a piece). Why ever buy one, when you can get 6 different flavors/ parfums for 7.90 euros like at La Maison du Chocolat? Course there is nothing wrong with these little pups from the Champion Supermarche either and you get 12 for 6.50 euros. It requires all your French politesse to divide those cookies in a genteel manner, without grabing your favorite flavor first. You always turn the plate to your guest and offer her/him the first cookie. I guess that's why I always go alone - no sharing. Except in this case. Please do take one?
More from Marie-Paule Maurin in Paris today - she made these little cuties! I want! Don't you?BONNE JOURNEE MINI MACARONS!

Tour des Macarons

Les Macarons a la cupid,watercolor, 5.5" x 7.5

Brought back by popular request and to help you adjust to the upcoming excess on this Thursday.

More macaron piece montees - this one the first I spied at Pierre Herme on rue Bonaparte.
Macarons a la,watercolor on Etsy,5.5" x 7.5

A managable tower of macs - well I could manage it.
Definitely for a festive party occasion from Gerard Mulot... Oddly grey-colored macarons? What do you think? Odd or edible? Lenotre had this swirling tower of macarons in their shop and I stole a shot.A quite unique fruit and (no not veg), but macaron tower from Dalloyau at Gallerie Lafayette. At the Salon du Chocolat, this very real tree of pistache macarons from Sadaharu Aoki.No macs but a very attractive tower of coffee cups in Cafe Richard's boutique window.

Strictly fruit for those abstaining from pumpkin pie, seen at Chateau Vaux le Vicomte. A tower of French marshmallows or guimauve anyone?Dalloyau's chocolate tower before I got the chastising finger. At Printemps, these towers of Xmas lights - inedible I'm afraid...
BON HOLIDAY!

Sophia's Piece Montee

Piece Montee de Macarons,watercolor on Etsy,sold 5.5" x 7.5"
I've become joined at the hip in more ways than one with these piece montee de macarons.

Sophia's Montee de Macarons,watercolor on Etsy, 5.5" x 7.5"

Sophia requested a painting of a piece montee to go with her fabulous mini pastry shop.
She wrote: I’ve been thinking about colors all this dreary, rainy afternoon....I think what I love best are pinks (framboise, fraise, rose, cassis) and greens (pistache), pale orange (abricot) and yellow (citron).

What I love to eat is caramel au beurre sale, praline, pain d’epices and marron. So think about what you could do with that palette and I’m sure I will love it!

Hmmm...well I took another look at her mini shop and instantly decided to make a painting like this piece montee.

Just one color and covered in

Yummy thin strands of caramel.. This picture is from French Macaron Queen, Mercotte.

I may never get around to making real macarons. But I could certainly dribble caramel all over them. THIS I could do most happily. How about you?
I just might be able to re-create this piece montee de fruits from Chateau Vaux le Vicomte with some spit, polish and a few toothpicks

Le Valentin

#169B Le Valentin,original watercolor
We're still in Passage Jouffroy today.

As Miss Sushy kindly reminded me, "I'm sure that you also know the tea room just in front of Pain d'épices: Le Valentin with macarons, and a lot of french pastries."

I certainly do! Who could forget this charming old fashioned salon de the? Or the glorious piece montee de macarons in the window?

I went in early for their chocolat chaud, while waiting for the toy store to open. They have everything to suit a 5 year-olds desires - tall jars of Guimauve!

And many, many jars of home made confiture!

And the salesperson was doing the job I dream of doing someday (when I grow up) writing out the day's menu on the ardoise.

Plus she gets to play with all these ribbons! ...tea prints on the walls... Even more French rubans = paradise!
Oh and don't forget those cookies in the front window..I mean bisquits!
BONNE WEEK-END!
