The posh 16th arrondissement is loaded with posh patisseries.

And I've barely set foot in them.
This is pretty tragique - I must make up for this lapse next trip

I just happened to waltze by Patisserie Yamazaki enroute to the Musee Marmottan last October

As usual I ran in, stole some shots and ran out without tasting a thing - quelle dommage :(

Unlike trecherous Financier Pastries lining the shelves of my refrigerator and hips...ahem

I have more resistance in Paris - there's such a wealth of choices.

You know in the next block or so you'll find something irresistable. Pastry procrastination is easy in Paris.

New York is not so full of temptation.

C'est la vie

I promise to go inside and EAT something next time!

Financier Petit Fours, watercolor, 9"x 11"

Drinking too much Champagne once-a-year is not that big a problem.

But becoming attached at the hip to a Patisserie just a short train ride away is another matter.

 

Dear PBers,
I need an intervention.

What started out as mere research for a petit four drawing project.

Has turned into an obsession. Ouch!

I tell myself I'm buying these delights just to paint them. Ha! They're disappearing faster than I can paint them :( A few years ago I kept pastry temptation under control easily.

I only painted miniatures.

Under an inch high. Help me PBers.

Especially since I haven't tasted "Le Tropical. At least there is a remedy for greediness straight from Paris - Oddibil charcoal tablets created for pastry overeaters. I recommend it highly.

I've been trying to visit "Frenchie" cafes every week in New York...

In this case PetalBelle is decidedly Belgian in Soho at 158 Sullivan Street...
Still you can almost see Belgium from France so... And all the accoutraments are very frenchie to me...
I love the menu writing on the pastry case...
