Esprit Jardin, Versailles, l’Artecono da Vinci

 

Every year in April, ESPRIT JARDIN 🪴 takes place in Versailles 

I went again yesterday. Hurry up. You can still go today 🪴

FYI - RER C was en travaux 🚧 (repair) this weekend, so I went to Gare Montparnasse and took the  N train 🚆- a fast 28 minute ride to Gare Versailles Chantiers. 

Then 1 stop on the EXP1 bus 🚌 

Et voila! You are very close to CHATEAU VERSAILLES.

Turn LEFT on rue de Satory. *Notice the line up ahead….

Please stop at #12 rue de Satory if you are into GELATO

This is GREEK 🇬🇷 Gelato  👍

The only branch in FRANCE 🇫🇷 !!

I waited maybe 15-20 minutes. 

Was it worth it? YES!!! Naturalement I got Greek yogurt gelato…deliciously tart and refreshing on a Very hot 🌞 day.

Ever onward to the garden 🪴 fête, held always around cathédrale de Saint Louis.

And le POTAGER DU ROI/

Thé King’s Garden, which grew produce  🥕 for the court of  Louis XIV.

Designed and constructed by Jean-Baptiste La Quintiniefrom 1678-1683 at the request of Louis XIV. The 22 acres was originally a swamp completely unsuitable to be a kitchen garden. Drained and with fresh soil brought in, 

La Quintinie produced:50 varieties of pears 🍐 20 varieties of apples 🍎 16 types of lettuce 🥬 

Le Potager du Roi has a lovely shop full of gardening books 📚 their own jams and fresh vegetables 🥕 available weekends.

But this event is for

Garden furniture addicts,

Rose 🌹 fanciers,

Those seeking garden tips,

And especially for French children,

Kids get a free plant 🪴 & lessons how to plant it

Maybe not so much for gelato 🍨 eaters.

I walked down rue de Satory, heading back to the train station…on the off chance the 🍦line would be shorter. It was not 👎
