Last Thursday I did my monthly French stamp jaunt(buying a 100 stamp sheet/planche of stick-on/auto-collant Mariannes).
As always I ran through Galeries Lafayette to see what’s cooking.
Kenzo Flower perfume cards I saved from years ago. I collect perfume cards like others collect bottles of perfume. Want to see my collection? Say yes pls.
I’m loving their Kenzo poppy promotion. Such a loss he is gone from Covid last year. I once met Kenzo, a very long time ago, very briefly in St.Tropez in that famous cafe. It was May. It was cold. There were 4 of us. We were all very young. Sometimes I feel like ‘Zelig’. His style is real upper these days.
Kenzo’s red/green outfits are perfect for visiting the new Branly Cameroun exhibit (in the Galeries Lafayette metro station below…was it color co-ordinated?).
Yesterday, Saturday, there was plenty of green with spots of red. Thank you, Sardinedeloire for putting up red/green pictures of my PB Florists letters + her chat/cat.
Yesterday I wondered into A.Simon and flirted with their red/green Apilco teacups. Do you long do own one of their cups too?
Stunning red/green cafe tables seen yesterday. I am in love ❤️with bistro glasses, but it’s impossible to buy them anywhere except by-the-dozen in restaurant supply stores. Someone could make a serious fortune selling restaurant ware directly to the public. I will be first in line.
I could paint bistro glass till the cows 🐄 come home.
Please share PB with your friends and visit my Etsy shop for lovely Real Paris mail 💌 in your mailbox 📮
Best glass painter everrrrr....
ReplyDeleteWhat pretty photos, Carol! I love all the poppies. And the ones from Galerie Lafayette are stunning! There are so many things I didn't get to see in Paris, despite the luxury of spending 5 weeks there. *sigh* I've had the thought that I could buy the enormous quantity of something in the restaurant supply store and divide them, giving some as gifts. But the absence of packaging would give me away. Maybe the answer is to go restaurant supply store shopping with friends who would agree on the spot to split some things. The mind is always scheming...
ReplyDeleteWe use the bistro glasses in all sizes in our home. They have been available singly from Crate and Barrel.
ReplyDeletePerhaps a visitor could bring some to you.
I’ve been using these glasses for years in three sizes. They never break. They look good with everything
DeleteFrench Duralex in the US!
ReplyDeleteWell that’s crazy

Just read Paris Breakfast and learning about Kenzo’s passing.
ReplyDeleteI too am very sad, I so loved discovering him and finding actual flat cool canvas shoes in a bunch of colors
back in the day, early 8o’s when only high heels were available.
I bought them in every color.
Gorgeous blog today. Thank you! Took me back to my salad days in the 60s when I first discovered Marimekko fabric and would wander through fabric stores in San Francisco to saturate my soul with the color and freedom of the patterns. Kenzo certainly evokes the same emotions and continues to have the same reaction from both sources. Love your collection!
ReplyDeleteHmm…well I am wrong. Monoprix sells Monoprix Maison Lot De 6 Gobelets 9Cl Série Picardie.
ReplyDelete4,99 set of 6 or .99 each!
Love the poppies, they just make me smile. Glad you found the glasses - I got them years ago at Williams-Sonoma.
ReplyDeleteSeen On amazon.fr but I bet you could get a nice cafe to sell/ give you one or two…
ReplyDeleteWill toss some poppy seeds today for Kenzo.
ReplyDeleteSally
I have used those glasses for 30 years, I got them in 4 sizes at William-Sonoma and then at Sur La Tab, I even have coffee cups to match. They are amazing, never break. I bought them after my first trip to Paris when I saw them in the bistros.
ReplyDeleteThey have Duralex picardie glasses online at Costco now too.
ReplyDeleteWow! what a fabulous Kenzo promotion by Galeries Lafayette. They’ve gone all out. That poppy skirt was made for you, Carol! With your red glasses…you’d look marvelous.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of glasses, I too have been using French made jelly jar glasses for decades. Very sturdy around children. Your watercolors of said glasses are amazing.
Yes, please. I definitely want to see your perfume card collection! ❤️
Yes, please, we need to see your perfume card collection. 👏🏻 Such an interesting thing to collect. Would definitely be fun to see.
ReplyDeleteIn Paris, I have been able to buy those Duralex glasses, singly or in pairs, at the Hema discount stores. Have a look! And thank you for the Kenzo fashion report. Glorious poppies!
ReplyDeleteYes please
ReplyDeleteYes,Carol, it’s poppy time - mine are a soft pink, short-lived, tall and lovely. Poof and the petals fall, but more buds on the stalk are ready to bloom. A short & sweet season.
ReplyDeleteLove ❤️ the photo of your flower letters, etc, especially the well used red-handled pruners. They must be Felcos, a fine Swiss make. I have the same pair that have been my gardening helpers for 20+ years. Mine are for the left hand - it’s my cutting, pruning, etc hand.
ReplyDeleteLovely small world, nest-ce pas?!
Eugenia, everyone in the US has those bistro glasses.
ReplyDeleteI will have to move back!
I have a dozen of the bistro glasses and use them EVERYDAY
ReplyDeleteNot only for drinking but also for desserts, they are a wonderful size.
Actually have a couple of different sizes, only keep 6 of each size in the cupboard
and extras put away since I know I will break a few eventually.
