I went off on a Vichy red check painting tangent today
Especially since Sabra check spoons 🥄 came into my life.
These are actually Real shoes from MuiMui! I’m always looking at feet. Maybe because I used to design shoes.
Speaking of Summer, Maison d’Isabelle can’t wait to show off their Summer fruit Tartes. Perfect way to celebrate the election outcome🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷
A HQ for Vichy check candy boxes, the very Frenchy shop for checkered accessories, H.Moinet.
Is confisierie Maison Moinet of Vichy.
Their tins and boxes are irresistible. The town of Vichy has been making checked cloth since the 17th and 18th century.
George Washington requested of his nephew living in Paris to send him Vichy check seat covers for Mount Vernon.
The Vichy check is a common, everyday fabric, yet its an instant reminder of classic French bistros.

ReplyDeleteChecks are so cheerful, n’est-ce pas? (Hope I spelled that correctly). In the first photo it’s difficult to tell which items are the correct size. Clever!!
ReplyDeleteYAY! for Macron being re-elected! 🇫🇷 Fun post, Carol. Love Sabre, jam jars, tea cups, Vichy check, your watercolors…and shoes! And, that view out of your window…no wonder you never run out of inspiration!
ReplyDeleteVery happy to see that he was re-elected. Let's hope he is able to carry through with his promises to do better.
ReplyDeleteYou are brilliant Carol! Love how you pull all these various facts together!! Love these watercolors, you can’t go wrong with red and white checks!!
ReplyDeleteThe tray items are miniatures if you’d confused. But larger than dollhouse size from Rement, a Japanese company. I love to paint from them.
ReplyDeleteI was surprised those were real shoes (MuiMui). They look like something you could make yourself…glue some ribbon to ballet shoes…great idea actually!
ReplyDeleteMe too
ReplyDeleteAnd Designer shoes no less!
Probably cost a fortune too
Beautiful! Thank you so much, Carol. We enjoy your blog so much
ReplyDeleteLove your post!
ReplyDeleteYour watercolors are stunning…you’re on a roll
Oh, love those spoons too! That summer berry tart looks delicious. Very happy to wake up on Monday here in Australia and see that Macron was re-elected, phew!
ReplyDeleteYour La Fontaine De Mars♥You are the check queen.
ReplyDeleteOh Carol, I do love the checks! So springy. And the red is just so happy -- your Fontaine de Mars is the perfect representation and your jam jars, too. Love that silverware!
ReplyDeleteKirra — A massive PHEW was heard throughout the land!!
ReplyDeleteJeanie—checks are so cheery arent they 😊
Good Day. Please remind me when all of Paris sells lily of the valley
ReplyDeletebouquets. I remember past blogs when you had wonderful pictures of many stalls and stores displaying these. Mid May?
Thanks
It is Always May 1 Labor Day in France!
ReplyDeleteOr you could search on Parisbreakfast :))
Love it! We rejoice with you and the French. Yesterday I put all my French CDs on to celebrate
ReplyDeleteand we had continuous French songs for hours . My husband call it “Macron Music”. We were afloat with Piaf, Trenet, etc., etc. and many more. Also, put our Sabra silverware on the table.
