Last Thursday I went again to a favorite June Fete, the annual 4-day JARDINS JARDIN in the Tuilleries. Arriving just a week or so at the start of summer in Paris.

The second year in a row a CHANEL tour. This time through a camellia garden and into a mini lab to learn how they make their newest Hydra Beauty skincare line.

The camellia was Gabrielle Chanel's emblem, decorated her apartment on rue Cambon and adorned her first fashion collections from the 1920s.

Each flower has 65-80 petals. It takes 150 flowers to make a kilogram of flowers. 7 kilos are required to produce 1 kilo(2.2 pounds) of the Camellia Alba PFA active ingredient. Lordie.

And they gave everyone who took the tour tiny bottles of CHANEL Hydra Beauty Micro Serum, plus a camellia seed if we want to DYI.

The outfits of our Chanel guides were endearing, especially those red rubber rain boots. Not for sale sadly.

They would be perfect for strawberry picking at LA FERME DE GALLY just outside Paris.

Or do nicely whilst planting on your own terrasse if you had one rather that a tilted bit of metal roof.

For mingling with the French goats at JARDINS JARDIN? Perfection.

More rare elixir at Jardins Jardin, honey made from Paris rooftops called CITYBZZ.  

You don't have to have a garden, a bit of terrasse or a green thumb to get a kick out of Jardins Jardin.

Just plan on coming next year for the entire month of June to take full advantage all the fetes. Salon de la Patisserie starts today. Jardins, Jardin - Bois de Bologne, Chanel l’Iris

 

For 4 days, May 30 - June 2, the Bois de Boulogne became an olfactory experience. Usually it’s held at Tuileries but because of the Olympics 

Plus total immersion in Chanel’s purple irises in bloom at Jardins, Jardin.

This was my second time at Jardins, Jardin, the annual horticultural 4-day May event in the Tuileries gardens

What a glorious day. What a glorious event. Plan to attend your next Paris trip in. May SVP.

Immerse yourself in garden decorations and projects like these clever sheds.

Everyone needs a greenhouse. Its supposed to be healthy to hang out with plants.

Hanging out in a bubble/bulle? Not sure that would suit me.

The creme de la creme of garden sheds. Put it on your terrasse. Plus a photographic Paris skyline including the Eiffel tower.

Not a shed, but a facsimile of Chanel's flower gardens in Grasse. A chance to enhale No. 5 and her other scents

Or buy some herbs for your window sill.

I wouldn't mind a divider wall of flower pots in my tiny chambre de bonne...

If you love watering cans too, please raise your hand

I don't know what this is but intriguing none the less.

Supermarche Franprix provided free tomates cerises and nectarines.

You could munch in the many pique-nique areas provided

Chairs supplied by French garden supplier giant, Truffaut.

You could feel the heat in the Tuileries after you left the cool enclave of JARDINS JARDIN.

I got lots of garden goodies to put in the June pique-nique Paris map and letter, once they are done.

Jardins, Jardin aux Tuileries, June letter, La Grand Jatte

Only in Paris' parks will you find the iconic, olive green metal chairs. Instant recognition. The annual JARDINS, JARDIN is taking place in the Tuileries this weekend. Garden events take place all over France in June. More giant flower pots 🪴 

There are the usual plant venders. But also stunning, ingenious garden ideas to get you thinking anew.

I wouldn't have minded taking home some organic herbs plants for my roof.

Sculpture Cloé Leray of Fontainebleau makes joyous metal garden delights. A big step up from your usual garden elves.

Supermarché Franprix has a relaxation area - sit in the shade, read garden books and munch on their tiny cocktail tomatoes and perfectly ripe apricots.

In this curious conservatory structure. Walls of variety grasses are hot too at the expo.

Another 'stand' made only of giant clay pots. Spectacular!

A 3-story construction of just plants with a terrasse included. I should have climbed up.

Delicious free tastes of sugar-free smoothies. Get the green apple, kiwi, spinach concoction.

You can not have a garden in France without some kind of Champagne glass holder, even if it is a mere pitchfork stuck on a planter. It simply isn't done darlings.

Still under the influence of Georgianna Lane's Paris In Bloom, I'm drawing a map of her favorite Paris parks. But what to do for June's PB letter? While researching Pissarro, this wonderful Seurat (his post-Impressionist contemporary) popped up - 'La Grande Jatte. I knew I'd found my June letter art.

A really fun way to discover what makes a great painting great is turn it into a coloring book image. Then build it back to the original color by color. I started with the largest area first - yellow.

The minimal touches of very bright red draw your eye around the picture. So far so good.

After adding the bluish purples I wondered if I should stop there.

The mass of velvety green was OK but I started getting nervous. Who did I think I was messing around with Serat's masterpiece?!

I bit the bullet and plunged on. Hope you like it.

Coming back from the Jardins Jardin expo I spotted these Parisians lunching on the iconic green chairs in the garden. A modern-day Seurat if ever there was one non? Consider a visit.
