This morning I was sitting on the Metro browsing the latest free newspaper - STYLIST. I was coming back from my 7:00 am swim, when my jaw hit the ground.  OMG

Ines' lipstick big as life. A gloss from Guerlain called Frizzy Mango. Could this be the ONE? omg

It's the Prismick from Roger Vivier...Ines is their brand icon etc.

I decided to investigate further. Is Aimee Leduc having a strong influence on me? I run over to the Guerlain flagship store on Champs-Elysees to check out the glosses...

The vendeuse was totally stumped. She'd never even heard of 'Frizzy Mango'. Where do they get these names anyways? While she goes in the back to search, I paint a swipe in my sketchbook and grab a shot without getting caught. Turns out Guerlain has been out of that color for ages - last season's in fact. Oh no.

So the mystery of Ines' lipstick continues to remain unsolved...dommage

Quite a few PBers write and ask me,

"What's going on in Paris? I arrive 9:30 am on Thursday in June and haven't a clue what to do.."

I wish I could help but I don’t plan ahead. I am totally dependent on the FREE newspapers in the Metro to find out what's on. My fav is A NOUS PARIS - quite classy really.

I'd be up the creek without it. Plus the horoscope from the Metro paper is helpful. PariScope is what most people buy but there are no pictures and such small type. I'm lost.

Next you Must buy ELLE Magazine for serious research over the weekend of what's hot and what's not. French Girl's ELLE was sacred. I didn't dare touch it. Gawd forbid I ripped something out...oh well. Now I can regularly rip out and mark up whatever I want and just it's a 2€. L'indispensable and perfect reading while you're waiting on line to get into the Ron Mueck exhibit.

Your Paris sleuth-on-the-job got new specs yesterday. While passing a pharmacy I looked in and saw black frames exactly like my red frames at half le prix. Inside the darling pharmacist said I looked, "plus jeune"/younger in the black frames so I bought two pairs (30 euros) and felt immediately revived.

Don't worry too much about planning every second of your trip to Paris PBers and leave something to chance and serendipity.

OK giant cat faces are Not IN but I couldn't resist this Lulu Guiness T at Uniglo for a mere 15€. woo woo. And it has a polka-dot collar which is Very IN for summer. Wish I looked like her...where's the rosé ?

Basically (and all the Paris Summer trends this season are Very basic if you ask me) just get out a flashlight and comb the bottom of your closet for What 2 Wear In Paris. Like this ages-old jeans jacket. You know you have one lurking there.

Shirt tails hanging out will Always be IN in Paris.

*Note the runners/baskets on this otherwise chic Parisian. Elle mag has a full page on le Phenomene Running Gang in their current issue. Even super Fab Chanel has come out with a pair and let me tell you they are ugly. What to do? I will not follow the crowd on this trend but you can if you want.

The KED'S look I can easily adopt.

Let's face it. This is still a pretty look. Gawd only knows what to do with ones massive collection of Repettos (I wish...) Toss em back in the closet if U want 2 B IN in Paris I suppose.
 

I would have waltzed right by 'l'Esprit Hippie' look if Veronique hadn't given me the nudge. And it's Isabel Marant no less, who can do no wrong in Paris. Nail heads, fringe, Indian prints, the whole 9 yards etc.
 

Surely there's an old fringe bag and bandana in the bottom of your closet?

Here's another shocker - the old beat up jeans shirt! Who knew this could be a fashion statement? I used to sleep in mine. Do Not press yours with a steam iron. Better yet sit on it for a week to get the correct look. I kid you not.

 A splash of polka dots anywhere is a good Springy-Summery look. These minis from Agnes B
 

 The dotty scarf (petit pois) is everywhere even in the marche for a mere 5€. You won't have to break the bank for this look PBers.

The bow at the waist fore or aft is Always a winner in Paris from time immemorial. These gowns are from the DO-NOT-MISS COUTURE show (free but long lines) at Hotel de Ville.

Once the heat is on, shed EVERYTHING, but do NOT forget a little bow at the back for a nice Parisian touch.

Well that's how I see it PBers on the streets of Paris.

Rosé et Yoom

Yesterday was Rosé tasting day at YOOM Dim Sum. When you see bottles of rosé all over Paris, you know it's time to put away the down jackets & drink lovely pink wines. This a sparkling rosé Champagne from Lallier, a rare Grand Cru near Rheims.

I'm mad for the 40 shades of rosé. 

This fruitie rosé from Chateau la Coste had an intense scent of strawberries 🍓 

1. *Remember to swirl & sniff 3 times before tasting.

2. Look at the color of the wine. No wine is more gorgeously colored than Rosé...so subtle

3. I know you're going to remember to spit at any wine tasting. I was there with Fab makeup artist Veronique, who had forgotten all three steps, especially the last spit step ahem...

Of course the silky, fruitier rosés go perfectly with red fruit desserts.

The more 'mineral' rosés are perfect for a dinner  of chicken or white fish on the terrasse. These handsome bottles are from Les Valentines AOC Cotes de Provence. Owner, Gilles Pons was pouring and had that Provençal accent and charm.

Very pretty decor. Even prettier dim sum. Much more refined than any I've had in NYC's Chinatown..

Delicate dim sum are a perfect match for rosé

Owner Mikael Petrossian (the same Petrossians of the caviar) and partner Benoit Guilbeau learned their dim sum-making skills in Hong Kong and Paris. Mikael's wife Anais handles catering and events.

They have a cookbook out to prove it with instructional videos on their Facebook page.

A thai salad starter with shrimp and lemon grass served in a small shot glass.

After the tasting, we wafted on a rosé cloud over to newly renovated Ecole des Beaux-Arts, where Veronique takes drawing  lasses. Meet any makeup artist and I bet they went to art school.

Then we wafted to Veronique's fav cafe where she's teaching me how to relax and drink an expresso. I need a couple of whacks over the head and more lecons before I get the hang of it.

So who has the cutest feet? Veronique or the resident cafe dog-of-the-day?

If you're in Paris you can waft over to Monoprix (have a few glasses of rosé first) to pick up a pair of Bensimon rosé-colored summer shoes for a mere 27 euros.

Dimanche 21 Avril Hier/Yesterday

Yesterday the weather was glorious in Paris in the 70's. All the cafes were packed.

Yesterday everyone was out wearing their KEDS and stripes.

Yesterday Bear and I went to see the new just-opened hot, hot Ron Mueck exhibit at Fondation Cartier. We thought we got there early (45 minutes after opening). Ha! We waited 45 minutes but watching the constant Parisian fashion show of others getting online time flies.

Inside the Ron Mueck over-sized sculptures were strangely moving and thought provoking.
Definitely a Don't-Miss experience.

We went upstairs to browse the great art books at the Fondation and got inspired by Issey Miyake's Pleats Please to go looking for pink desserts!

Off to Saint-Sulpice pastryland.

Yesterday we wandered further down rue de Seine to see again Arnaud Larher's macaron tower of power all pink and yellow.

Over to rue Bonaparte to drool again at Pierre Herme's Celeste collection. Celeste, je t'aime!

All we got was just one Celeste macaron...

Yesterday Bear browsed bears on rue de Seine...

We both admired the brand new dandelions.

Yesterday we went home dog-tired.
