Rue Montorgueil Map Diet

I went on the PMD back in May so begin your Paris Map Diet with Baba au rhum as a starter
At Maison Stohrer. By the way you can eat your Baba any time of the day. NO time restrictions on this diet.
L'escargot are a must for lunch and do not miss one iota of buttery sauce please.
The toast points will reach into every nook and cranny of those darling little shells.
A fabulous deal on rue Montorgueil of 5 different hunks of cheeses for a mere 9€
At Fromagerie La Fermette No. 86.
There appear to be dozens of cafes on this long pedestrian street.
Frankly I couldn't tell the difference one from the other.
I will say my lunch of 'Roman' tartine at Café du Central was amble enough to feed a party of four.
Moving right along, there must be 5-6 places to buy ice cream on rue Montorgueil (an essential ingredient on the PMD).
I tried Charles Chocolatier though they are especially renown for their fab hot chocolate a l'ancienne served from a copper pot in winter.
When I see 2 words citron + framboise offered together in the same cone I can not walk by.
How did I miss this 'Petal Rose' ice cream?
Or fruit de la passion?
Since I started drawing the PARIS MAPS there has been some serious belt loosening.
It seems required to research and taste the 'fruits' of my labors even if my scale doesn't like it.
Two French girls who are NOT on the Paris Map Diet obviously.
They get their 'glace'/glasses at this street cart selling fancy lunettes/glasses.
This Frenchie IS on the PARIS MAP DIET with her heaping cup of gelato from Grom. Plus she's training future PMD converts.
As Oscar Wilde said, "The only way to get rid of temptation is to yield to it...I can resist everything but temptation"
There is no better place to start than on rue Montorgueil.

Ode to Printemps!

Last night French Girl and I went out to shoot the windows/les vitrines.

Au Printemps department store was celebrating La Fete du Printemps.

With giant floral bunnies... Floral swans.

In lavender no less.

And flower-headed Rockette Chorus girls.

Lined up.

In sumptuous rows.

A flower power couple even.
This flower girl succumbed to Spring Fever and fainted.

In a swoon from rose perfumes.

Hidden in ribboned boxes.

Suddenly behind us on boulevard Haussmann we heard a great WOOSH!

Hundreds upon hundreds of Parisien skaters took over the street in a woosh of Spring Fever!
One was decked out in blue lights!
Then they were gone.

Ah, the ever present French escargot in luscious pink roses...

Don't forget Paris is laid out like a snail with the 20 arrondissements curling around on themselves and #1 at the center.
Et voila!
BONJOUR AU PRINTEMPS!

l’Escargot Paris

Restaurant L'Escargot Paris, 5" x 7"
Have you had snails 🐌 at restaurant L'Escargot?

I've passed by many times at 38, rue Montorgueil 75001
And perused the menu.

No guts, no glory

While I was busy prepping for the March trip, I noticed something - how Paris arrondissements are laid out.

Paris is laid out like a snail 🐌 with the lower numbers in the middle.
French Girl says, "Paris was built like a snail. You can see it perfectly when you look at the map with the quartiers
Take your finger ☝️ Imagine #1 is at the center. Then draw a snail 🐌 with the other numbers and you'll be able to place the "arrondissements. “Yes we Parisians are snails 🐌 "
I saw a million chocolate snails in Paris for Easter.

Not a snail, but a close relative.
Is this a French snail?
This gorgeous snail was in New York Bergdorf Goodman's Xmas windows. I once had snails at now long-gone classic Bistro de Saint-Peres. Eating l'escargot is similar to eating 🥐🥐🥐🥐🥐 croissants at one sitting, the butter 🧈 is that rich.
Paris provides the antidote - ODDIBIL 250. Available over the counter at pharmacies - just plain old charcoal tablets.  They filter out the gras/fat so you can live to eat
another day.
Please share all l'escargot 🐌 stories.
BONJOUR JEUDI!
