Paris Plages 2025 ๐ŸŠ Jean Gaumy et la Mer

It looks like these people are sunning on the beach ๐Ÿ–️

Doesn’t it?
They are not.
They are under my bridge, Pont de Sully getting crispy at the annual PARIS PLAGE.
I almost made it into the Seine ๐ŸŠ yesterday, but I missed the boat. Too many other to-dos. It is not open every day…mostly on weekends which seems unfair ๐Ÿ™„ especially when the temps are in the 90s ๐Ÿฅต like this week.
I did happily make it into the splendide Piscine Pontoise instead๐ŸŠ Trรจs elegant.
I have been dropping by Paris Plages on occasion
And every single lounge chair & umbrella is always taken!
One can only conclude it’s a hit
With the Parisians left in Paris.
Fun things like Free suntan lotion dispensers (I tried it - pleasantly creamy)
Free Selfie photos of yourself at Paris Plage ๐Ÿ‘ OUI!
The theme this year is Brazilian,
Since it was a Wednesday, I thought they might have Feijoada, a classic beans & meaty stew served only on weekends and Wednesdays. They did not ๐Ÿ˜ฒ
On Monday I took a deep dive into more watery ๐ŸŒŠ experiences
At newly renovated Musรฉe National de la Marine  Trocadero.
It is now a stunning space for boat-lovers
And everyone else up for a sea-worthy adventure.
The painting collection is knock-your-socks-off terrific, with of course all manner of boat models and any equipment related to sailing the ocean bleu.
I came particularly for thรฉ photography exhibit of Jean Gaumy.
He is a member of Magnum,
And a superb master photographer
Of all things ocean-related.
He travels the world following traditional fisherman.
And this is a man who suffers from
chronic sea-sickness.
Certainly a man following his passion ❤️
I thought this exhibit was timely. On Saturday I’m going to la Fรชte de la Mer  ๐ŸŸ in TROUVILLE - a big celebration for the fisherman and their boats ๐Ÿšค
๐ŸŸ HAPPY FISHING ๐ŸŽฃ EVERYONE ๐ŸŸ

Wonderful post as always Carol. Love seeing Jean Gaumy photography. Just stunning. Sounds like Paris is having a heat wave like we are here in Oregon. We have been hitting 100 but it will cool down into the 80s today. Love the free selfie photos of you.

Hi -- I love your email newsletters. Thank you for sharing your life and world with all of us -- would you ever write a memoir or a guide to Paris? You seem to be having a very rich experience there. I have learned so much from you. Thank you!

  7. Love those photographs, your selfies and think the free sun screen lotion is a wonderful idea. Thanks again for taking me back to Paris, if only for a few minutes - you always make me smile.

I’m with Jennifer…you need to write a memoir…if she only knew the incredible life you have led…even pre-Paris! ๐Ÿ“•

I think you should swim in the Seine…just once…just to say you did it! Honestly, how many people can say they have been swimming in the Seine?! For comfort (and air conditioning!), your pool though is the top!
